Rolling is easier to fix than chipping, in my experience.
Batoning folders to split firewood seems like a suboptimal use for that tool. Hatchets or fixed blades are both better choices for splitting kindling.

Re: Seriously stuck screws - Blue PM2 - HELP
If it's factory loctite, then the Sharpie was probably applied without taking the knife apart, so no real need to disassemble. I know acetone melts quite a few plastics, so I'm not sure how it might interact with the resin portion of G-10. Acetone won't hurt the G-10, in my experience. The resin us...

Re: GB2 and Taiwan made knives
The slight recurve will sharpen just fine on the Sharpmaker. Not so great on bench stones.

Re: Seriously stuck screws - Blue PM2 - HELP
Soldering iron should have defeated any loctite... I am more concerned that the "coloring" of the scales wasn't divulged to you prior to the trade... What is the blade steel? I would be suspect of a fake blade switch, if they claim s30v... Scuze my ignorance but what is soldering iron ? I...

Re: Spyderco to the rescue....again
Great story! We need more of these. Will a PE cut a seatbelt OK? I'm sure SE is the Rx here. But I've never tried to cut one of those. Yes, a PE blade cuts a seatbelt well, but only if it is REALLY SHARP. SE is effective even after long use without resharpening, but PE is not. Since few people care...

As a user, the Delica is a knife one doesn't outgrow. It is a profoundly practical design.

Perfect example of an application where serrations really shine. Good job! Way to be a knife ambassador.

I also prefer the less snagworthy serration pattern found on the culinary knives. In a different thread I recall Sal stating something to the effect that the Seki serrations perform better after several resharpenings on the Sharpmaker, and that rounding of the points was a key element in this impro...

Definitely send it in to W&R. I've never seen a compression lock that far over.

Re: PM2 Lock Rock
A friend of mine has two counterfeit PM2's. They look very good but the lock and pivot work poorly. I try to educate him about how counterfeits damage Spyderco, but he just doesn't grasp the point. It will be interesting to learn if the one from Amazon was a fake. Amazon has a lot of fakes for sale,...

Re: PM2 Lock Rock
I am curious how this wear occurred, if it is wear. I carry and use my PM2 a lot, and have now for 3-4 years, with negligible wear on the lock, despite plenty of sharpening of the blade. I wonder if this lock wear might be related to many opening and closing cycles that are unrelated to cutting oper...

Re: To Honor?
Since Paul likes clipless folders, the Kopa makes more sense to me than the Stretch, much as I'd love a straight-spined Stretch. I'd bet that most here would prefer a clip on a Stretch, but a clipless Kopa with classy scales makes a nice gent's knife, and feels in line with the Deacon's style.

Bodog,
Have you tried sending any of your three defective knives to Spyderco? From what I learn here, they don't send out repair parts, but they do take good care of their customers, especially if product was defective. I'd give it a try.

Re: HELP broke tip on PM2 sprint!!! Life's over or not..
Normally, I prefer grinding the spine to repair a tip because it preserves the factory edge shape. Sharpening the edge to fix the tip sweeps the edge up more than I like. That said, in this case, with only 1/32" gone on a coated blade, sharpening the edge to regain the tip seems wiser.
