Re: Yojimbo 2 is an AFI's best friend

Now take that same knife and cut through some double wall box, and then cut the same box with a Chaparral and you'll see the difference. Even if you regrind the hollow section down to a zero grind, you still have to force that door stop of a grind through any material that's taller than the blade i...

Re: Yojimbo 2 is an AFI's best friend

12.5 dps edge! I need to try that on my S30V Yojimbo 2. Do you think that I could get away with that on my 20CV Yojimbo 2's? As far as regrinding Spyderco's so far I'll stick with what their engineers decide, but I'm open to hearing which knife blades people think need to be reprofiled and to what ...

Yojimbo 2 is an AFI's best friend

I'm making this post because I have noticed that the demand for ultra thin knives seems to be growing. While its fun to imagine our folding knives or fixed blades having the ability to cut like those samuri swords in those fantasy movies or like the famous Hatori Hanzo sword from Kill Bill, the real...

Re: Hap40 Wharnie D'fly

the first thing I thought of when spotting the wharnie dragonfly on the reveal was getting it in a tool steel or some exotic steel. I'm all for it. patiently waiting for it to happen. Sal, make it so.

Re: Yojimbo 2 (S30V) OXIDIZED

Is this similar to black oxide finish on screws? If so it’s not durable compared to DLC but it certainly doesn’t just rub off. Looks nice Black oxide doesn't have the abrasive, chemical, and heat resistance that DLC/PVD coatiings have, but it still has good resistance in all three catagories. Also,...

That was interesting, I've got the V-Toku Stretch and I've found similarly nice performance!
V-toku2 is a good steel. Very easy to sharpen, holds an acceptable edge

Re: Yojimbo 2 (S30V) OXIDIZED

Whoa, is it some sort of high heat process ? Its Hot Black Oxidization. Where I work, I have access to equipment that allows me to oxidize stainless and non-stainless steel Huh interesting, is the oxidation layer very durable? And does it mess with the heat treat at all? It looks very flat matte, w...

Yojimbo 2 (S30V) OXIDIZED

My first oxidization project was my Dragonfly V-toku2 ( pics in https://forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=83923&p=1331504&hilit=v+toku2#p1331504 ). Now, I'm showing my latest project: Black Oxidized yojimbo 2 in s30v. Unfortunately I couldn't get the whole thing apart to blacken the...

Re: The Spyderco Earth- a knife made from 100% recycled materials

In terms of steel ( hardware and blade) I would suggest spring steel from vehicles from the scrapyard. If Forged In Fire competitors can make competition blades from those, spyderco should have no real worries doing it too (:

Re: Knife Vs. Pork Covered in Jeans

Just curious, has anyone tried to cut a chunk of pork covered in jeans with a Cricket and a Ladybug? Just curious which one would do the most damage to that chunk of pork. The answer to your question is the Cricket. The first half of the blade is Hawkbill styled ( like what you see on a karambit) w...

Re: AFI Performance Flash Batch

I voted yes. But if your really wanting a knife of such thin levels, you would have to go with a steel that doesnt have an occupancy level within the matrix to make it brittle while at the same time not have so little composition within the matrix that it would bend like a coat hanger Plus have a he...

Wondering why there is no stock anywhere of this knife? I've checked all the big online knife retailers - no dice. Wondering if I should take a chance on a Raffir Noble model.
Its available at www.warriorsandwonders.com if you dont mind shopping on a canadian site.
