Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

Warstein I will say that I share your sentiment and I appreciate you being the respectful person you are and how you have kept your thread from any necessary negativity that would detract from anything other than objectively discussing a topic where two parties have a difference of opinion. And if y...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

Vivi - I addressed all your talking points just now earlier when Wartstein made the same exact ones - Either you have monstrous hand with fingers that can bench press your body weight, or your knives have been modified, and from my experience, if I modded all my backlocks to the point where I can do...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

It would be neat if all of us who argue what the best one hand open/close knife is could get together, put on fall protection harnnesses and lanyard, grab a 20lb bag of tools and parts, walk up 20 flights of stairs, climb some pipe and tie off above the abyss, stradling a pipe, then see who opens a...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

People seem to be getting hung up on the "from a usable grip" qualification. The comp lock is undoubtedly quicker to flick open closed, and also easier to flick open and closed, but that's not the argument. Most days I carry a PM2 but I've gotta agree with Wartstein on this one: to and fr...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

Do it, its not about whos better or more right here. I want to know for the purposes of my own knowledge library. Also if you can beat it, you'd have achieved something I previously thought to be impossible. The platform that Vivi used (and I used) is pretty easy. Once you upload the video from the ...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

Heres another video to demonstrate what I mean by consistency and ease of use: I lay the knife in a few slightly differing positions flat on a surface and then pick up, open, then close the knife as fast as i can, doing this all while looking thru the phone screen. I am absolutely certain there is ...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

What do you use a knife for while driving? I generally use mine to threaten anyone disobeying road rules. Since reading this thread I’ve also practiced “speed closing” at traffic lights and during traffic jams. I’m very happy to report I’m getting much faster and proficient at closing all my knives...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

I wasn’t disputing you. What do you use a knife for while driving? Oh sorry I misread that as "what knife do you use...". I get a lot of amazon packages and when I leave my house for work I will usually bring all the small packages with me to open on my way there instead of waiting until ...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

I often use my folders in my car, and when using a compression lock knife, the extra seconds it saves me from allowing operation from less specific hand/finger position, the more times it allows my eyes to be on the road, the more it lets my other hand confidently steer the wheel, and also the fast...

Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.

I'm sure if you use the term "faster" to only refer to speed, I'm sure any two fairly similar actions can be made to comparable in that regard. I think that the word is used by most people to mean "easier" as well, and if we are trying to compare which of the two locks is easier ...

Re: Would you buy an AEB-L Military?

Yeah golden does not get to have H1, and for some reason, probably a good one, they are not casually going to just release a LC200n Para Salt. The more I think about it the more it seems an AEB-L para sprint will be the closest thing we can have to a Salt Para Family. Bright neon yellow or a deep ri...

Re: Would you buy an AEB-L Military?

If AEB-L proves to be as tough as we'd really want it to be(which I'd say would be at 4v levels or higher) tougher than pretty much all other steels save for 52100, it could make a fantastic stainless SE Military that I don';t think we've had the privilege of having something like that available for...

Re: Why no black TiCN PE Endura Family??

The Police needs a DLC option. It makes too much sense for that model. I'm sick of my favorite folding knife not being practical to carry year round. Do you treat you r K390 and other carbon steels with rust prevention or even just some oil when you first get it? Taking the whole knife apart, rubbi...

Re: Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume Two Released!

I agree, I'd be picking up a good handful of knives aside from the P4 if they had released those new models in anything other than black G10 and VG10. Im sure there are probably good reasons why they do that we just aren't aware of though.

Re: Spyderco 2019 Reveal Volume Two Released!

Is it uncertain now if a K390 Police LW will be a thing? Could've sworn I read somewhere that it was, I really sure hope it still is :( Really looking forward to seeing how Spyderco does with that AEB-L too, if they managed to get it to perform even better than the 52100, that would be really specia...

Re: What's your favorite Spyderco that's a little bit of a "hidden gem?"

I'll second the Rhino, been using mine about 1.5 weeks and it has impressed me heartily. Light, low-profile, distinct style, I like the clip (middle depth, not as shallow as many), incredibly smooth and well-made, and I can easily go between 3 and 4 full finger grip. It is my go to itty bitty. Good...
