Re: Numbered spyderco price gaugers
The free market is a tricky thing. 10 years ago I ended up with a Scott Cook Lochsa for around 700 bucks. I found the ergos on the knife terrible. To thin a handle for my hands to open easily. I sold it for 700 bucks. With in months they were selling for 3K. I literally missed the crazy jump in pri...

Re: Numbered spyderco price gaugers
Not so much a liberal fraud as a republican/conservative utopia. For the sake of argument. Demoncase, not sure I could have said it better. Eh, what can I do if you're semi-literate? And what you're talking about is not "conservatism" in any meaningful sense, it's Cuckservatism. From here...

a free market society). for the sake of argument, the "free" market is a bourgeois liberal fraud. It should be a principle not to give Ebay sellers any business, regardless of the knife, just let them burn. As long as they want to cut your throat, turn around and cut theirs. And as long a...

Re: Corrosion resistance on VG-10
Is VG-10 likely to rust? What exactly in the steel keeps it from rusting? Among the "high carbide" steels, VG-10's corrosion resistance is very high. S30V actually has good corrosion resistance and it has both a higher carbon and lower chromium content compared to VG-10. Probably the only...

Re: MT21P - Mule Team Fixed Blade with CPM 4V
I know this might sound crazy, but I'd really love to see Spyderco do a 420HC Mule or sprint run in perhaps a FRN Manix. It would be interesting to see the difference, if any, between a Spyderco run 420HC and the unfortunates found in cheapo knives like Kershaw's Scallion. Honestly, I'm not even sur...

Re: CPM CRUWEAR vs. CTS-XHP Military - which one should I buy first?
Which of these two do you think I should get first? I do not currently own any other knives in these steels. I do own a normal S30V military, and I'd like to try out a new steel. Knife will be a user! Go with XHP, though you'd be hard pressed to notice a difference in edge retention between it and ...

Re: Protection against "Knock Out Game" thugs?
As the 'knockout game' is by now a traditional manner of non-white assault against whites, you would do best 'defensively' first by not frequenting areas with large crowds of non-whites. A lot of white people have allowed themselves to become prey Way to make contact violence a race issue. Shame on...

Any good defensive suggestions? As the 'knockout game' is by now a traditional manner of non-white assault against whites, you would do best 'defensively' first by not frequenting areas with large crowds of non-whites. Also, if provoked try to remain as rational as possible. If all else fails, a ha...

Re: S110V vs. S90V
Hi everyone. Are there any advantages of S110V over S90V? Also how does M390 compare? Thanks. Btw s110v and s90v, I'd be surprised if you noticed a difference besides an extremely controlled test. m390 is supposed to split the difference between the other two and s30v. Keep in mind that high Vanadi...

Re: Is that Paramil s90v cf REALLY worth $300?
.but does it really improve on performance THAT much? FYI, knifeworks.com has available pre-orders for S110V paramilitaries at about $144. There's a considerable difference in wear-resistance, which can translate into better edge retention. I hope you're a good sharpener though, as these high-carbi...

Re: ZDP-189 - choosing the right waterstone
That's what it was then, the slurry. I making passes with a lot of water on the surface on the stone, after having already soaked it, so my slurry was probably massive. It was a great learning experience. I'm going to do the flush you recommend and also perhaps use as little post-soak water as possi...

Re: ZDP-189 - choosing the right waterstone
I recently bought an actual waterstone, my first, a King 6000 grit, $19 off Amazon. I have no trouble sharpening my ZDP-189 Endura on ceramic rods, diamond or oil stones. However, my first try with the King 6000 was a total failure. I used extremely light pressure and I could only ever get it to bar...

Re: Spydies on Teflon Washers
Why is this not the case? The washers main purpose is to reduce friction. Are you telling me you actually think metal does that better than teflon in a pocket knife where there's neither a lot of pressure or a lot of rotational speed involved? No, that's actually what I was thinking. Then again, te...

Heh you guys. Just opened my new spyderco starmate and was disappointed to find it had teflon washers. I think all of my other spidies are bronze. the teflon ones are pretty smooth I admit... but still... well you guys know what i mean. On order, i have a tops- buck collaboration, and i am sure the...

Re: CPM REX
According to legend, its the steel to end all steels. Not sure why exactly no one in production uses it. Maybe it really is much harder to grind than even s110v. I think its mostly due to the laws of 'Business'. Marketing plays a huge role. Zero Tolerance would only use it for Operator appeal and th...

Re: Military vs Endura Lock
Thanks. The reason I asked was that I generally mistrust liner locks. But I like the Millie and Spyderco does liner locks better than anybody. I prefer lock backs by a large margin, but, that millie is a real nice knife. Depends on how early the lockup is on the Military, and that can vary greatly....

http://www.villagevoice.com/news/new-york-city-pays-out-7-500-for-malicious-prosecution-under-controversial-knife-law-6658431 It's mind boggling to me how NY operates. The gun laws are one thing but calling a regular locking folder a "gravity knife" is ludicrous! I wonder just how many ca...

What am I doing wrong sharpening the ZDP-189? med and fine sharpmaker rods for touchups. You've got me. I think the "ZDP-189 can't be sharpened" meme is one of those internet legends, like S30V being so brittle that its unusable. My experience with the vanadium steels is that they suck on...

Not sure what your point is. Vanadium and a higher carbon content is the fundamental difference between the two. To say they can't be compared because of that doesn't make sense.Blerv wrote:M390 and ZDP-189 while comparative in the "high wear" category can't really be compared on a model level
