Yes, I understand Romania's getting hit pretty hard, so best of luck to you and your family, dialex. Hope everything's ok.

I have a lightweight Endura with ATS-55 steel. Sometimes I wipe the blade on my jeans. Once, when it was REALLY dirty (I was cutting up pineapple at the beach), I ran some hot water over it before wiping the blade on my jeans. That's how I clean it.

Since we have some Czech guys on the forum ...

Please keep them in your thoughts right now. That country is getting pounded with the worst flooding in a century. Austria and parts of Germany too. My wife is from the Czech Republic and is darn worried about her family in Prague and in Southwestern Bohemia.

Dobry den, crowfoot. Mas pravdu. I really prefer the lightweight handles over the stainless because of that reason, plus the slipperiness when wet, and of course the weight. Ten lightweight Endura je skvely nus!

I went out and got myself some thick black frames, with the glass so dark thay won't even know my name. The choice was up to me, 'cause they come in two classes, Rhinestone shades and cheap sunglasses.

To me, a gentleman's knife must A) have the ability to be carried in dress slacks and not be seen (no "unsightly" bulges in pockets - I reckon sightly bulges are ok, though). And B) it should serve to cover traditional "gentlemanly" tasks such as trimming the end off a cigar, etc...

Another vote for VG-10. I have an ATS-55 frn model and love it. But the VG-10 models have the Boye dent in the lock lever which - while I kind of doubt adds that much for safety - is a cool addition nonetheless. Man, you can't beat the Endura in price-to-toughness ratio! Well, the Delica comes close...

My dad carries a Victorinox Classic at all times and uses it often. Unfortunately, he really sees anything else as needless overkill and has no interest in larger knives.

I have a vague recollection as a kid of reading an article in (I think) Blade where Bob Loveless (or one of the other popular bladesmiths of the day) said that, if he were working around docks all day, cutting rope and such, he'd carry a serrated Worker knife from a newer company called Spyderco. I ...

During my time spent in Florida, I never gave carry laws a second thought. Lots of years with belt-pouch folders and, later, multis and unconcealed Spydie clips. Never any problem. Once, when I had to go to the courthouse, I had to turn in my tiny Buck 526 at the guard station. When I was retrieving...
