To find the limits, you sometimes have to break stuff... :) I treat all my knives as if I want them to be used tomorrow. If I have to baton, i use a folding saw and any small axe. For those that say a file that slides on the HTed blade is the test... One question...What hardness is the file? :) In my HT experiments, I tested a bunch of files to see the HRC. If you look at the proto image, and measure the blade length of 2.5 inches against the scales, it might be just a tad under the NZ legal requirement?

G10 is color straight through.
I have had blue G10 darken, but a wash in a degreaser and then hot soapy water should revive it.
