I won't even bother with a knife if it doesn't have tip-up carrying no matter how awesome the knife is. Simple as that for me. I can't imagine why anyone would want it tip down...just seems backwards to me. I have pretty big hands and i carry the medium sized knives so when i stick my thumb into my ...

Yeah i've found a lot already...i really really really like the looks of the Caly 3.5 and the Sage 3...i really have my eye on the Sage 3 having been a Native carrier for so long.

Here's a crappy cell pic of the tip of my Native. It's scratched up now from use but it holds a nicer edge than it did when it was chisel ground like the serrations.

Now that i think about it i'm pretty certain it should work fine for a FFG blade...i just never thought far enough into it. I'm not sure how it would effect the sharpening angle though. Here's a pic on the web showing how they're set up, though this looks like a newer model than mine http://smithsed...

The Smith kit is probably not as nice as that one...i'm not sure but it might be able to be adjusted enough to clamp onto a full flat grind enough to work...the issue is that it has to stay in the right place so you're applying the right angle to both sides. Now that i think about it more, i probabl...

Yeah i can see how a hollow grind would be kind of wedgie. The Delica i just got is a flat saber...i haven't sharpened it yet but wouldn't it have nearly the same cutting ability as full flat grind? Seems like the blade would be stronger too since it's thicker throughout more of the blade.

What's your preferred edge grind and why?

I've been reading a lot more about blade grinds, steel types and basically educating myself on knife info more lately and i never really gave much thought to blade grind until recently. I can't really say what i prefer since i haven't owned every option, but what i like and prefer to have is at leas...

Yeah that's a mouthful. If you do a web search it comes back as a Delica 3-D...what's that? It says Delica 4 on the handle.

I'm in love with it already. I forgot how much i miss a plain edge. I'm trying to take pics but they just turn out fuzzy.

I would think that any decent paint stripper would take the finish off with no problem. Go to a parts store and buy a can of Permatex Gasket Remover. It comes in a spray can for about $4 and i've used it to remove factory powdercoating on car rims and it eats it off like you wouldn't believe. I woul...

Honestly the spider doesn't look near as nice or clean as the one on my Native...and of course my camera battery is dead but i'll put up some pics later. If it's a knock off it's a **** fine one because i can't tell a difference between the one posted on the Spyderco catalog. I would've gone with on...

Oh, and it's rust resistance is excellent. This right here is about 5-7 minutes of cutting lemons, and not a spot of discoloration. http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y27/SpIice/0621101118a.jpg Somebody work at Penn Station making lemonaid? LOL that's a lot of lemons. I would guess that's a good test...

The Sage series are made in Taiwan, as well as a few other knives. The markings should be laser-etched and not stamped , should say S30V, Taiwan, and Spyderco. Are you certain on this? I bought a Delica, #C11PBK and everything is stamped into the blade except for the spider. Please tell me i didn't...

Im at the flea market looking....can someone tell me quick about blade markings? Are some of them stamped with TAIWAN or are these knockoffs? I heard they've shipped metal over for manufacturing....i'd research knockoffs more but im on a phone and its super slow so a quick reference would help a lot...

If it's anything like the tungsten coating found on some blades then you'll probably have to sand it off before the metal underneath will polish.

Yeah i really would like to handle whatever i buy before i put down cash...i really wish there were a dealer around here. I may hit up the flea markets and see what i find. I've never handled a wave knife so i'm not sure if it would matter to me or if it's gimmicky but it seemed like a better to hav...

New guy, looking to buy a new knife

I've carried a Native for about 2 years and there's nothing at all wrong with it aside from some wear...but i love it so much i'm looking to buy another Spyderco. I've got my eye on the Spyderco Delica 4 Emerson Opener and i'm looking for a dealer in/around Cincinnati but the only one i have found (...
