I had a JD Smith PE, and it had one of the sharpest edges I have ever had on a knife. That and it is a beautiful design.

BG-42 Of the ones that you listed, it will hold an edge the longest. And if it is only for light use than you wont need to sharpen it as much.

product line question

I was looking at the japanese site mentioned in another post and saw a much greater variety of spydies. Is there a difference between what we can get and what is actually made in japan, or in other words are there japan only knives?

For me it depends on the type of use whether or not I will have a PE or SE. My PE knives are nice and sharp, but I still prefer SE at times.

Get the police. It is a real good knife, is being discontinued and will become tougher to find. I have the SS version and really like it.
