I am very curious, especially about this knife, which they say is the executive

I had a JD Smith PE, and it had one of the sharpest edges I have ever had on a knife. That and it is a beautiful design.

BG-42 Of the ones that you listed, it will hold an edge the longest. And if it is only for light use than you wont need to sharpen it as much.

I was looking at the japanese site mentioned in another post and saw a much greater variety of spydies. Is there a difference between what we can get and what is actually made in japan, or in other words are there japan only knives?

The JD smith is a lockback, dont see it needing a arc ramp.

For me it depends on the type of use whether or not I will have a PE or SE. My PE knives are nice and sharp, but I still prefer SE at times.

I carry two knives every day- a spyderco police for utility work and a backup knife, and a Tom Mayo TNT with a 2.5 inch blade for all those sheeple

Get the police. It is a real good knife, is being discontinued and will become tougher to find. I have the SS version and really like it.

uumm, a little premature here- wasn't spyderco started in 78? that would put it at 24 right?

My fully serrated Police SS, every now and then my PE JD Smith
