Re: First Knife of 2018
My first Knife of 2018 is turning out to be a factory 2nd Yoji2 that I got a great deal on. It'll be my first compression lock and I am looking forward to playing with it.

Re: What Spyderco have you lent to a friend, who broke it through mishandling?
I keep a beater knife of another brand around to loan out, nobody touches my spyders. I won't even let friends examine them unless I am very confident of their competency. Currently that list consists of my younger Brother, and my father, that's about it. My girlfriend knows how sharp my blades are ...

Re: Crappy service & product
Saved for 2 years, clearly he sprung for a Darn Dao. The magnetic pull of the earthen core pulled the blade right from between the scales and out the bottom of the sheath. It's now wedged somewhere below the mantle of the earth, contributing to continental drift. Warranties don't cover gravity, buye...

Ferrick nitrocarburizing?
This finish goes by several other names: Melonite, Black Nitride, Salt Bath, QPQ. Widely used in modern firearms. Penetrates steel without changing it's dimensions, works on stainless steels, and non. I feel like it would be great on knives, it's very attractive and strong. Rich black finish, usuall...

If you carry 3-4 knives I don't see why an Endura would b out of place a few times a week. They are really not that big at all compared to some alternatives.

In order of preference for me: 1st: CBBL, Bolt, Back lock. 2nd: Comp lock 3rd: Liner lock 4th: Frame lock I carried a frame lock for the past couple years prior to falling down the spyder hole. I do think they have a certain aesthetic appeal, but combined with the assisted opening mechanism on -that...

I would also like to see some more Manix 2 XL options, Jade/M4, CF/s110v. How about an XL lightweight? Translucent blue FRCP & at least s30v steel, I would like screw together construction instead of the pins used on the Manix 2 LW, but it wouldn't stop me from buying one if it was pinned. Call ...

I hate non-discreet writing on the blades, or any writing on the scales. I agree, I would like to see Spyderco go to the simple round logo on more FRN handles, rather than the old oval/peanut shape with the company name/model above/below the logo. Like so: https://www.knifeworks.com/media/catalog/p...

Prior to my Spyderco devotion/obsession, I carried a Kershaw Cryo II Tanto, and a Kershaw Crawford Combo edge most recently. I have since gifted the Crawford to my old man, and I'm looking for someone to gift the Cryo to. They just see no pocket time/use now days.

Re: Admitting when wrong
I subscribe to the philosophy of having a variety of clubs in the golf bag. I work in medical back office, so in this case, a variety of knives in the laptop bag. I think there's a place and use for linerless FRN designs, and more tankish designs with full liners and scales. For 8 out of 10 jobs, my...

Re: What's you're biggest folding knife pet peeve?
Stiff/gritty action, a blade that won't shave hair out of the box, a grossly off centered blade. "China" stamped on a blade i find quite displeasing aesthetically, I would honestly rather the origin be a mystery. The David Boye dent annoys the living daylights out of me on several levels. ...
