Re: Caribbean Scales: Love, or Hate?

Cilantro. Crocs. The Dallas Cowboys. French fries and mayo. Boondock Saints. The Caribbean's scales. Either you love them, or you hate them -- there is no middle ground. Which is it?! Sorry, but: For ME there actually IS a middle ground... :o ;) I´d be just ok with them colorwise (don´t own a Carib...

Re: Spyderedged Blades: A Total Mis-Understanding Maybe?

The only reason I don’t have more serrated blades is because I can’t sharpen them on my wicked edge. My eyes are bad (right eye extremely nearsighted, left extremely farsighted, glasses only help with distance vision) which makes holding a steady angle with the sharpmaker a PITA. Freehanding on a st...

Re: 2019 seconds sale

I’ll be going this year. My goal will be to get several serrated knives, particularly the caribbean leaf, native salt, and dragonfly salt, to test out serrations without breaking the bank. Definitely looking forwards to it! :D

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

Missing this one has reinforced my realization that it’s better to be on the selling side than the buying side :p . This time next year I hope and plan to have a website running, and an exclusive commissioned. That said, I’m happy for all of you who got one. I’m loving the pics I’m seeing in this th...

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

Denim micarta and k390 or 15v is something I would definitely buy IF the run is big enough. I’ve given up on this one because my internet isn’t fast enough to check out before they sell out.

Re: Manix 2 XL Love?

It’ll take me a few years but as soon as I have the capital to do it I’m going to try to get a k390 Manix XL with translucent ice blue g10 scales commissioned as an exclusive. This is the knife I want to see more variety on over any other knife. Hopefully someone will beat me to the punch and commis...

Re: What's good about S30V

Everything about s30v is good. The only flaw with it is that m390 class steels are better in every way without being too much more expensive. I’d take 20cv over s30v every time. This is true, although I'd have to double check the toughness stats. However, production companies have a tendency to und...

Re: New Arrival - K390 Ranger Green G10 PM2!

Mine came in yesterday morning. Used it all day at work, and I gotta say, k390 handles impacts against steel better than every other steel I’ve used. No edge damage whatsoever. Much more stable at the edge than cpm cruwear, zdp189, s110v, or maxamet. Count me in as a k390 fan for life :D

Re: Drinking the Maxamet Kool-Aid

Maxamet easily gets edge damage from diamond plates . I use diamond lapping films pasted to balsa to sharpen maxamet, and it works wonderfully. I don't understand this unless there's something wrong with the steel. I had a similar problem with a new s30v blade, but it wasn't just diamond plates, it...

Re: Poll: Preferred steel choice(s) for a Manix 2 XL Sprint or Exclusive?

A 4v xl would be something I want enough to pay flipper pricing for if I screwed up enough to miss it on release like I did the 4v shaman.

Re: Shaman Cru-Wear Sprint Run release ?

I decided on the k390 pm2 over the crucarta shaman. K390 in just a much more useful steel for me, and I already have the m4 shaman. Not being a fan of micarta certainly helped this decision though :p .

Re: Newbie with knife steel question...

The s110v manix lightweight would be one of the least expensive and most corrosion/wear resistant option. The knife has pinned contruction and no liners, which bothers some people, but works fine imo. The m390 pm2 would be an easier to sharpen and slightly tougher but less wear resistant and more ex...

Got my order in. Guess I’ll finally see if I can grow to love the pm2. I’ll definitely be sanding some contouring onto the scales either way.
