Re: MAP policy change? 35%

I’ve already got past the increases and won’t give it a second thought. I just look at the net price and compare it to similar knives from other brands. I recently bought my first ZT as the Spyderco I was comparing it to wasn’t as good a value after the MAP change. No big deal for Spyderco as it is ...

This is just an importation issue. Has nothing to do with owning, using or even buying in Canada. Completely idiotic, but these knives are still legal to use/own.

The only boots I wear are Red Wing and Blundstones. Both brands are almost indestructible, comfy as **** and look better as they wear.

Re: CBSA going after flipper type opening

Hey guys, thought I'd share this with everyone who has been worried about the recent ruling. I was at a local cutlery store and I spoke with the manager about it. He said that it's pretty much a yearly thing and it typically only affects individuals ordering from the US. Larger stores and companies...

Re: No more Spyderco in Canada?

I just made an account to say that a Spyderco Myrtle purchased from knifecenter is being held by the CBSA. I received a letter today informing me that it was being reviewed to determine admissibility and they will get back to me in 4-6 weeks. That bites. Please let us know how this turns out. Welco...

Re: Feeding my addiction

I personally think the obsession with different steels is silly. The “fan we get model X with steel Y cause then it would be perfect” threads just baffles me. I think it’s good to keep a long term perspective on collecting. You’re going to pass on at some point and chances are if you have kids they...

Re: When is the new Native 5 Salt arriving?

It does seem a bit expensive for what it is, but still a cool knife. My dilemma is that I already have a serrated Native 5 in S35VN and a PE Pacific Salt. Not sure I need a 2nd SE Native. I have a little Ladybug Hawkbill Salt SE as well. The Native is also a bit small IMO for kayak fishing and on th...

Re: When is the new Native 5 Salt arriving?

Crap. I gotta stop coming here. You guys cost me money.

The Native 5 Salt will be a perfect complement to my Pacific Salt PE and my Ladybug Salt Hawkbill.

Does it come in a full serrated version? I love my fully serrated regular Native 5....

Re: CBSA going after flipper type opening

Exactly how I'd respond :D I'd carry an Aqua Salt or Street Bowie on my belt, keep it visible, and go on with life. It wouldn't be long before they realized how psychotic that looks. I saw a large guy wearing a Bowie in the mall once. It looks insane. 17 times worse than a large folder. I guess it ...

There are an equal amount of medical supplies being used to save the bad guy's life too. You don't see the media making a big deal about ISIS using that stuff because there's no political agenda to cater to. They can't ban Band-Aids. Unless they are tactical Band-Aids... dark colors, fast tear off ...

Re: A little look at the FRN Meadowlark 2...

Really nice work.thank you for posting it!

I have 2 Meadowlarks and they are a fantastic value. I have the same as your reviewed knife and a SS model. The SS model is heavy and the pivot can’t be easily adjusted, but it is a very classy looking and well built knife.

Dunno. Haven’t figured out how to open them yet and I sold my drill press.

Sure look pretty sitting on my dresser all closed up in their boxes though. ;)

Still sucks. Bear seems like a pretty stand up guy. I know I would lose sleep over it if I was in his position.

I guess the owners of S&W or Glock can’t spiral into depression every time one of their guns is used in a crime.

Re: I sinned today.

I just received a Benchmade Bugout and it is a great knife. My Griptilian is excellent as well. Also ordered my first ZT (a 0620 on clearance).

I love my Spydies and Byrds, but I have over a dozen really good (and different) ones. Nothing wrong with having a little variety.

Re: What would you like to see next from Byrd?

I agree about fixed knives. Most of my fixed blades are cheapies from Gerber, Kershaw and Smith & Wesson. I won’t pay a ton for a fixed as I only use them in the woods and beat the **** out of them. I would be all over reasonably priced Byrd machetes, tomahawks, large fixed, smaller blades, etc....
