Re: Are Spyderco prices getting out of your reach?
I believe you blamed Spyderco's pricing model, but any difference you pay will be import tax, no? Why is that Spyderco's problem? It's their deal with the official German Retailers. They take the MSRP in US$, convert in 1:1 to € and add a little charge, without any discounts of course. :( So, Spyde...

Re: Are Spyderco prices getting out of your reach?
Does the Nirvana interest you? Yes, but the price converted according to the current exchange rate will be more than 800$ in Europe. And this is point, you can't charge custom prices for a series production knife without disappointing your most faithful afis. Heck, I can even buy two Titanium A.T.R...

Re: Are Spyderco prices getting out of your reach?
The 'bread and butter' models- the Harpy, the Civilian, the Police, the Military, the PM2, the Manix 2, the Delica, the Endura are all below that average- significantly in most cases.....and it's these 'bread and butter' models that most 'non-Spydie-fans' buy. That's true, but I have the feeling th...

C27 with titanium bolsters, burgundy micarta scales and a Super-G1 blade. And without a clip, of course.

I guess so.Liquid Cobra wrote:Is this the end for the PITS...
The PITS was so ridiculous expensive here in Europe, that it was cheaper to buy the custom by Mike Read on the secondary market.
I can't understand the pricing anymore, for example the LionSpy is sold for 150€ more than the LionSteel SR-1 in Europe.

Re: Lets see your oldest Spydie
I don't know whether the JD Smith or the C-54 big Calypso model was Spyderco's first Micarta folder or not. ... Unfortunately Spyderco seems to be trending away from Micarta handles :( I'm also a big Micarta fan as you probably know, Joe. :) It's a shame that they don't make knives like this anymor...

I would love to see a sprint of the Rookie (mini Police) and the Dyad Jnr. Yes, the Rookie is somewhat underappreciated. http://www.bladecommunity.de/gallery/userImages/bb/14503-bb97da08.jpg http://www.bladecommunity.de/gallery/userImages/5d/14504-5de2eb47.jpg http://www.bladecommunity.de/gallery/u...

I've had the same issues with my first CF/ZDP Caly 3.5. The knife was replaced to a specimen with a non-warped blade, so everything is fine now. http://www.bladecommunity.de/gallery/userImages/01/13737-014a64aa.jpg http://www.bladecommunity.de/gallery/userImages/a6/13728-a65bfe64.jpg http://www.blad...

Re: Spyderco ethnic series
AFAIR the term "ethnic" awas first used with the introduction of the Kris in the 2006 catalog. Though not officially a Spyderco I would consider the Ramco-Laguiole the first knife of the ethnic series. Still waiting for a true Spyderco Laguiole, perhaps a collaboration with Fontenille Pata...

Re: Spyderco flops
The Shabaria,Gunting and Captain came in my mind as some knives who were made just because they could do them. All were three to four years in production, so I think it's hard to call them a flop. As the Deacon correct stated the T-Mag may be considered a failure as well as the Carbonfiber Cat and ...

Re: Where to buy replacement screws?
Try to search here: usaknifemaker.com but I don't really know parametres of original screws. Couldn't find any metric screws there, maybe you want to consider a different supplier. AFAIR the scale screws are M2.5, flat head in 5.3 mm length. The clip screws are M1.6, don't know the size of the pivo...

A friend tried to the clip to LH carry (on the CF side) of the Dice...screws won't catch the liner... :( anyone else run into that issue? That was a common issue with the first run of the Domino, never heard about this issue with the Dice but it is certainly possible. Re: Laci Szabo very Tight
Well, one man's self closing is another man's anti-opening! You can see there that is a h*ll of a spring Even Spyderco can not outwit physics, every locking mechanism has it's own fundamental characteristics. Locking mechanisms that require an additional design feature to keep the blade securely cl...
