Re: How to turn a Delica into a $350+ knife.

Very cool. No regrinding on the blade though? It'll have a Damasteel blade here real soon. :) I'm going to keep the original grind though. It's a slicing machine. Fair enough. :) Glad you found someone to make that Damasteel blade for you. What pattern did you go with? You chose a great, very funct...

Re: Stained Salt 2

I’ve had this a few times on LC200N knives when they’re used in the first week or so of purchase. I think it comes from grit contamination from other steel particles resting in the grindlines on the blade flats. In my case the effect is also caused by stropping the blade flats on strops which have b...

Re: SS K390 Stretch Anticpation Thread

I'm very patiently waiting and also home they eventually do a drop point version. Cambertree I'll bet those scales are stunning. Please post the when finished product when it all comes together. I sure will, Bemo. :) The desert ironwood scales have a nice straight striped grain to them. I specified...

Re: About that food prep ...

Good question Matus. I have enough excellent quality Japanese knives that I don’t really need or look at other kitchen knives any more. I often use folders in the kitchen, not because I have to, but because it gives me a better understanding of how a knife handles, how a particular steel fares in th...

Re: Stretch in a steel I never heard of v-toku2

I am planning on taking it to 17* profiled edge it’s NIB factory and when it’s time to sharpen someone said all my spyderco shows be taken to about 17* ( chim in if you know better degree ) 17 degrees per side? The Seki made knives can vary, but it’s possibly already at, or close to that angle with...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Wow! That Stretch looks great, Cambertree! Those scales look quite comfortable, and I'm sure that edge will be a great performer. Very nice! :) (Except the deep carry clip for me ;), but this is totally subjective of course) I am glad that I actually have more than one Stretch 1 myself, so that som...

Re: Spy27 Mule in use and testing feedback

So after missing out on the SPY27 Mule in the unexpected scramble, I received an unexpected email from one of the forum regulars asking for my address. When the mysterious package arrived in Australia from Colorado, not only did it contain a SPY27 Mule, but it came ready to use with G10 scales, the ...

Re: SS K390 Stretch Anticpation Thread

My most anticipated model since it was announced. I’ll be disappointed if there’s no drop point version though. I use my HAP40 one often, in preference to a fixed blade while hunting, and the K390 will be even a bit better for those tasks. Got some custom contoured desert ironwood scales patiently w...

Re: Stretch in a steel I never heard of v-toku2

Nice score. As to whether it works well for you it will depend on your uses and sharpening ability. The exposed carbon steel edge area will rust if you don’t wipe it clean and dry it after use. The cladding is stainless. You need to watch that the pivot area and action is kept dry too. The sandwiche...

This is great news, thanks for the update Chris.

I support Edgematters with a subscription, but I haven’t visited in quite a while.

I hope they grind it thin, like the K390 version.

The Urban’s one of my favourite models for sure.

My AEB-L scalpel ;) :

Funnily enough, I don’t think I’ve ever taken a pic of either of my most used Spydies - the K390 Urban or the ZDP189 Dragonfly.

I’ve been pairing the K390 Urban with my REX45 Chief lately.

Re: Most Favored Spyderco Collaborator(s) To Return?

Phil Wilson and Gayle Bradley for me too.

I’d like to see a version of Phil’s Coyote Meadow, thinly ground and in K390, and a return to the Wilson fillet knife that never made it into production.

Perhaps SPY27 would be a good steel to try out for that kind of knife?

Re: Native Chief first and ongoing impressions thread

So here are the mods I performed on my Chief -installed a Ti Lynch clip in the tip up lefty position. I find the Lynch clips can be more comfortable than the MXG ones, depending on the size of the knife, due to the tab at the bottom of the clip being bent down, rather than curving upwards. I usually...
