Am I the only one who finds Spyderco's trainers overpriced? They're just for practice, so they don't need to be made of the finest materials, and thus, the price shouldn't be as much as the knife it mimicks.

I used mine for some utility stuff, while making another knife.

The mineral oil I have for my whet stone(s) doesn't seem to soak into the steel. It just pools on top of it, like water.

Just curious as to what oil(s) everyone uses, as it occurred to me that maybe there is something better than what I use, which is Hoppe's #9 gun oil. Works well on both my firearms and knives. But my curiosity gets the best of me sometimes.

Depends on what you intend on doing with it. Utility knife? Buy it. Collectable knife? Eh... probably not. Haggle it though.

Tasman Salt, Plain Edge. Whenever Spyderco gets the Karahawk rolling, that is what will be lining my pocket.

Anybody know what is going on with the Karahawk? I've been chomping at the bit to get my hands on one. I'd also like to grab one before Xmas as a gift.
