A locking, but not one hand opening knife like the Buck 110 (probably in paperstone) might be a better option. Apparently you can pinch the blade and "spydy drop" to open it anyway. However, as said, if you can carry a fixed blade knife then by all means carry a fixed blade knife. Reason t...

Good good. I was a little concerned because I'm seriously considering a Manix 2XL for my next Spyderco. Taking things apart and putting them back together is no problem for me if need be. I'm sure I can ask whichever seller I buy it from to give it a quick once over to make sure everything is as it ...

Freman what a ignorant racist statement ethnic minorities take it somewhere else. Or contrary to my suggestion provide facts that only 'ethnic minorities' carry out knife attacks in Australia or anywhere else. People don't come here to argue and I'm not going to start I've too much respect for the ...

You might be able to ask a seller to really crank up the pivot nut so the blade barely opens. You can correct it later when you get the knife.

In New Zealand it is verboten to carry a knife for self defence. Therefore I do not carry my Resilience or Espada for self defence. I carry whatever knife I'm carrying because I like it, and it might be useful for cutting stuff.

You poor Australians. Contrived tests that don't reflect any real knowledge of knives, all because a few ethnic minorities stab each other with kitchen knives. A pathetic end for the country that gave us Crocodile Dundee. (Britain has some stupid laws too, but at least you can own the knives even if...

One of the clip screws on my blue Persistence had stripped. I just put a little loc-tite on that one as two hold the clip securely enough. That said, with two stripped you're down to one which isn't a strong enough grip.

Can you just buy the torx screws separately?

I basically wet a paper towel and wipe the blade with it, then wipe it with a dry towel to take off the excess.

It does collect a bit of dust though.

I use olive oil, but I don't know if it actually does anything. I've not had a knife rust on me, if that counts for anything.

It's probably made in China, like the Byrd and Value Spyderco ranges.

And the linked Tusok page says they're made with 8Cr13MoV.

Number one, don't buy from a Chinese site.

Number two, if on eBay buy from someone who only sells new knives, and make sure they have a wide variety of them.

Don't buy second hand except from someone you know.

I just added a Resilience to my collection, and it's tucked in my pocket now. At a pinch it would make a reasonable kitchen knife if I found myself in a place with blunt kitchen knives. I usually have a Victorinox Huntsman or Champion, and a small slipjoint knife on my keychain (which ironically is ...
