I just got the S90v mule "factory 2nd." I took a close look at it and all I see is a slight line in the blade close to the tip. This should polish right out! I was expecting something much worse.

Thanks Spyderco!

Thank you for the tip about adding a base layer. I've been unhappy about all the holes and glint of metal in the wrong places.

Full Flat Grind would be awesome!

I vote for metallic gray, yellow and a bright brown/tan

Ok, then a factory 2nd it is. I've never tried to make anything like a knife handle so it should be a great learning experience. If I can't do it, then I can always cord wrap it.

Actually, I would be much more comfortable with a factory 2nd since I tend to baby my better blades.

I was going to pickup a 2nd one today and they're all gone... The only ones left are factory seconds. :(

Liners are drilled but it's a fairly hefty knife.

Ok, I followed the advice so far, sharpened at 30 degrees and used higher angle to remove the burr on medium grit rods. Then I re-pointed the edge on fine and ultra-fine grit to polish, still at 30 degrees. I stropped a few times to finish it on my belt. Then I increased the angle to 40 degrees, wen...

Sorry, I forgot to mention, I'm sharpening a Byrd Crow and a Spyderco Tenacious, both with 8Cr13MoV blades plus a benchmade Griptillian with 154CM blade. There are a couple kitchen knives I've had for many years with some generic stainless steel blades from Taiwan. I also have other knives that I wa...

Trouble with deburring the edge

Hi, I'm a new owner of a Sharpmaker and fairly new to collecting knives. I've had several different sharpening systems, but never had great results. I thought the Sharpmaker was a God-send, but I'm still having issues with deburring. What I thought were very good edge quickly dull so I'm pretty cert...
