Tragedy in the absence of force options

I posted this on BF's Prac/Tac board, but some folk may only see it here. Sadly, when the force continuum is not understood tragedy awaits. Two men in their mid-fifties get into a freeway 'road rage' altercation. After exiting the freeway, they stop at a stoplight. Bell, 52, is in the rearmost vehic...

V.34 -

Terry Pritchard might have serrated Guntings for sale.

Here's his posting on bladeforums in the for sale dealers section.

They're kinda hard to find, so good luck.

I think Bram is traveling, so I'll presume to speak out-of-turn.

Bram says the serrated production Gunting is 50/50. He's having some custom work done to create a fully serrated sweet-tooth Gunting.

Welcome Huntercl, to the MBC forum. I know of no printed newsletter per se; however, this is forum is the focal point of MBC and Gunting related information. Bram Frank will note his Traning travel log. MBC Seminar information is posted here regularly. Also, the Spyderco Custom Shop folk will update...

Your thigh will be happy that you bought these tapes. They cost less than a trip to the emergency room for sutures and a tenus shot.

Bram, Congratulations on the patent! It's quite an achievement. I can't wait for more varients. While certain folks will always fret over any self-defense tool, the Gunting system helps to defray the critics by staying within many blade laws, and offering effective less than lethal options. It may n...

Sal,
The shirt is a grat idea. How yearly version, where a MBC logo and date is standard and each year a different MBC knife is fully rendered. 2001 could be the Gunting, 2002 the Chin, etc.

MBC blade weight and technique

If you assess the Chinook, Gunting, and Ayoob for their overall weight difference; you'll have a nice spectrum of heavy, medium, and light weight MBC blades. Granted that each knife has characteristics that help to detemine it's style of use, but I was wondering how the weight factor alone affects c...

Guntings and my lawyers

I'm fortunate to have an experienced attorney as a lifelong friend. She is a deputy DA in a northern California jurisdiction. Together, we viewed Bram's tapes and talked over device enhanced self-defense. I won't go into heavy detail regarding the discussion, but there are a few interesting highligh...

Joyce or Sal, I noted that on the Spyderco section of BladeForums there was no post of this benefit contest for John Roe. If I have your permission, I like to post or link the announcement on bladeforums. Perhaps there is a reason for this, if so, I understand. It would reduce my chance of winning, ...

Carlos,

Just wanted to say that I enjoy your posts about all the exotic materials. I have to do research to grasp an understanding of the three letter acronyms. Seriously, your knowledge about materials is informing and intresting.

Keep tossin' those exotics.

I second Protector's wisdom. One technique I learned from a SWAT firearms instructor is to make a small ritual of moving from dry firing mode to live round chambered mode. What I do is verbally state "I'am preparing for dry fire for 15 minutes". And I use a specfic training place. When I'm...

Civilian if I'm untrained; Gunting or Chinook once my skills match the design intent of the blade.

Perhaps a better question would be 'how much training can you budget in both time and money?'

Gunting drone -- a novice's perspective

Following the advice of the G'ting cult, I purchased a Gunting drone. I did this prior to buying a live blade as an exploration. After working out with the drone, I can't imagine learning kenetic openings and grip changes without it. I keep track of how many self-cuts I'd commit, as if it were a liv...

Carlos, Thank you for points about the nature of Spyderco production. They were educational. There is much to learn about the business side of knives. I was, in fact, speaking of a Emerson-type Custom Shop. While Spyderco may not be able to create a US based Custom Shop; I support the dream of Super...
