The notches are put in the blade as a forward resting place for your pointer finger. It aids in fine cutting control and as stated by everyone it helps break up the overly moded blade. Heres a question, Not that any of us can predict the future. Which config. of the Tasman will be the rarest in 2 yrs: Yellow FRN PE or the Blk FRN PE? The past tells me the Yellow (ie:Catcherman) would, But try finding a PE Merlin now! I just want to know which ones to buy as a collection queen........
