Yeah I dropped it over tile so it didn't really have a chance. One corner of the white rod is still useable and one corner of the brown rod is useable so it'll still work until I can replace the stones. Actually, I dropped one of my white rods on the tile floor a few months ago. I started a thread ...

I am one who posted that they did that mod. Hey, me too! http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=703820 I think if you do it with a Lansky or any clamp system, you're going to be grinding for weeks or months. I did it with a DMT XXC, and it took about 8 hrs per side, and I didn't really ...

I friggin hate that swedge. Police III is the only Police for me :D I got my hands on a used SS Police for $40 (!), resanded the handle to get rid of all the scratches, and sold it for $100. Just couldn't bring myself to like the blade grind. Were you the one who bought that Police from ZippoThisKn...

Do the Spyderco clips bend so you can adjust the tension? I tried this on another brand and the clip just snapped in two. It's the material they are made of. I think that is common with that company's clips because they replace them for free. All you have to do is ask for one and they send it no qu...

They make strong knives, that's for sure. And they make a **** of a fixed blade. They're all tough as ****, but none of their knives have a good balance of everything; they're focused solely on strength, and everything after that is an afterthought (from the clip placement to the 30-grit G10 under i...

Personally I find choils annoying and cutting with your hand locked into them just feels weird to me. Plus when you grab a knife for hard use, putting your index finger inside the choil hurts. And if you put your index finger behind the choil, it puts your hand too far from the blade and reduces yo...

NO CHOIL! PLEASE, NO CHOIL! This series has never had choils and never should. If you want a choil, there's the Caly or Native route. Don't ruin the Delica or Endura by changing the grip to a choil grip. (Edit: I'll admit, a choil grip can be smoothly done, as in the Stretch. If a choil is going to ...

I don’t remember where I heard that san-mai (laminated) blades are easier to sharpen but here is the theory. Sharpen a knife to a per side angle of 15 degree creating a bevel of a certain width and then put a higher angle of 20 degrees right at the edge. When it is time to re-sharpen you only need ...

I have some kind of small problem with almost every Spyderco knife I own. For one thing, they can't grind a blade for crap. Every one of my knives (with the exception of 1 or 2) has an off-center blade due to either poor fitting of the pieces or in the case of my FRN Stretch, a hideously uneven grin...

I started a thread on this yesterday about using buffing wheels to clean up scratches:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showt ... p?t=776685
It doesn't work too well with regular black emery, apparently.
