Re: Gent's folder with blade length slightly less than 2.5 inches
This stuff makes me so thankful to live in a state that doesn't have these silly laws. It's not a state law. (a) Except as provided in subsection (d), whoever knowingly possesses or causes to be present a firearm or other dangerous weapon in a Federal facility (other than a Federal court facility),...

My newish Victorinox Cadet measures 2-7/16" using the AKTI method (tip to handle).this_is_nascar wrote:The Cadet's blade is too long for his requirements I believe.

Re: Gent's folder with blade length slightly less than 2.5 inches
What would really be awesome is a Golden made Grasshopper with a really nice steel, bolsters, and nice inlays. That knife has "gents folder size" nailed. It doesn't look like a stubby version of a standard sized knife, it just looks like a miniature Endura or something. Yes, the blade sha...

So Super Manbug fans - you don't like choils? For me the choil and the ability to grip is what makes the small blades so versatile.

Re: Gent's folder with blade length slightly less than 2.5 inches
The blade measurement is definitely not just the cutting edge. There's been some effort to try to get LEOs to use the AKTI Recommended guideline for measuring blade length - see http://www.akti.org/resources/akti-protocol-for-measuring-knife-blade-length/ . Always safe to assume they might use the l...

It's not compliant with the only firm requirement in the OP - a 2.5" blade so it can be carried in a Federal building.farnorthdan wrote:Welcome to the forum naddysaad, and couldnt agree more on the air, what a sweet little blade it is, too bad they disco'd itnaddysaad wrote:Definitely gayle Bradley air!

While you're waiting, you might consider the byrd Robin 2 in stainless, all black, G10 or titanium. It's a very useful knife with a 2.38" blade. https://www.spyderco.com/pix/products/large/BY10SS2_L.jpg https://www.spyderco.com/pix/products/large/BY10BKP2_L.jpg https://www.spyderco.com/pix/prod...

Re: Robin 2 in Black Blade?
Wow, I'm not a fan of all-black or stainless steel handles, but that's one sweet looking knife at a great price. IMO the Robin 2 is great knife for everyday tasks, the design gives it a lot of utility for an under 2.5" knife.

Re: ZDP-189 - choosing the right waterstone
Fascinating, and thanks.
But since sharpening isn't a part of the hobby that's high on my list of things I enjoy (though I can see how it could be for some) - my conclusion is not to buy any more ZDP-189 blades, or other super-duper steels for that matter.

Re: Steel upgrades for byrds?
Hi Nick, Timely question. Perhaps some history? Regarding the comment about BD-1 being similar to Gingami 1 - I found this history from 2004 interesting - //forum.spyderco.com/viewtopic.php?p=20532#p20532 . From a long time ago, so partly ancient history but FYI. <snip> In terms of steel. Gingami 1...

I'd consider one in another steel, not really interested in the laminate.elena86 wrote:It breaks my heart to see that Caly3 is gone.
