Re: V-Toku2 vs HAP40 vs VG10 vs ZDP189

Vivi,

Since you have tried ZDP, I suggest getting HAP 40 unless the handle is not suitable. Well, in that case probably VTOKU is next better option. It should take low angle well.

What about D2? Plenty of Chinese companies are using that steel.
Hope this helps about Chinese D2

Jazz,

Fun video and yes, those who professionally cook needs to have the speed, otherwise customers are left waiting too long.

And I say again, fun !! :D :D

Re: African made knives: What are some known makers?

Edit to add: just realized you’re asking about mass production. Not able to help then. I know there’re some good custom makers in South Africa and a BF member who became one (Marthinus). I like Marthinus’s review on the GB and now he started making his own frame locks. Can’t remember the details, yo...

Kristi,

Thank you for notification and good luck!

I noticed that somehow my browser doesn’t show the ‘padlock’ symbol that denotes the connection is HTTPS. Trying to add https:// doesn’t seem to work.

Edit to add, now it’s HTTPS! Thanks Kristi! 👍🏻

Nice mod.

I tried unscrewing the thumbstud, but about stripped the screw. I'm betting there is some loctite involved. Thinking I'll need to heat it up, then try unscrewing it.
Very nice mod Peacent! Is it about dragonfly hole size?

Re: custom base for sharpmaker

Well here's my quick and dirty 3d printed solution that I cooked up tonight. I think I should have made finer degree markers, I forget the printer can do pretty good at that level of detail. But it will work better than what I've been doing. I guess for people that need two rods in a V configuratio...

Delica is inspirational

With that budget, I’d say Endura, or GB2 (GB1 if you can find one). Or a Stretch.

Of course I’m biased to lockbacks.

Edit: Native is a nice choice. Get him a salt one?

Re: Airplanes: Please explain why there is less comfort, less legroom, while the technology has advanced?

1. Apart from statistical fluctuations and some mismanagement, currently it’s at its best. I remember Sal saying ‘everyone is trying to do the best they can’.
2. Make it a tank of a truck. Won’t be economical though. Again, statistically see no. 1.

I guess I’m not much of an innovator :D

Re: Vivi gives the Delica another shot

The Delica didn’t work for me until I got the byrd hawkbill. It taught my hand how good the ergonomics of Delica. Strange but true, never own one but my friend has some. Surprised to find now they work for me.

Still like Endura & Stretch more, but I cannot say Deica doesn’t work. ;)
