For the money, these look pretty decent.
I also like some of the other small fixed blades pictured in this thread.

In addition to endorsing Glock, I'll also heartily endorse the Springfield XD series. I currently have an XDm 9mm (haven't gotten to shoot it yet). Last year, I took an XDm .40 caliber through a shooting school. 1,100 rounds I put through it with zero cleaning and zero lube. And I had zero stoppages...

Thanks, everyone, I appreciate the support. We really suspect it was one of my wife's @$$hole family members. One of them, in particular, is what I consider to be a lower-functioning form of fecal matter that I'd hesitate to dirty a shovel with by scraping him off the road. I'm in a bit of a "m...

I love my 19 dearly. Over the years, I've probably had a dozen Glocks of one configuration or another. Had a few 23's pass through my hands. The 23 is an outstanding pistol, but I found that my time between shots was longer due to the .40 caliber's muzzle flip being a bit more than with my 9mm, so f...

Fortunately, I didn't catch whomever did this in the act, because they might have met God right then and there.

This is unfortunate and absurd. I feel somewhat bad for the people who did this. What position/condition would you have to be in to think that stealing a grave marker is a good idea? Hopefully this is not just considered a joke. It is an odd coincidence that two related things are stolen from us. P...

Superb info has been covered here already, so there's not much for me to add. I'll second the Situational Awareness emphasis, though. Incredibly important. In my 20 years of corrections, we have never once been taught how to defend against edged weapons, even though over a dozen officers with whom I...

A Loss For Words

This afternoon, my wife and I were driving past the cemetary where our baby son is buried. We decided to stop in to visit his grave; he's buried on top of my wife's dad (as in, his casket is buried atop her dad's). As we walked up to the grave, we noticed that some demented son of a b***h had stolen...

I was talking on the phone as one of my friends who worked in the twin towers on one of the upper floors called me and asked me to call his wife and to tell her he loved her and that he wasn't gonna make it out of the towers, the reason being a plane hit the tower, and there was lots of smoke...I th...

Where Were You...

When the world stopped turning? That day, I was on my post inside the prison, guarding a door to a cell block. I first learned of the attack from the inmates, and I thought they were messing with me. I didn't believe it, and had no way of checking up on the news since I was on post. It was like that...

I'm watching 102 minutes that changed America. Every time I see the face of a fire fighter, police officer or some other first responder I can't help but wonder "did he survive?". It's painful to remember but it will be a tragedy if we forget. I wonder that very same thing. Unfortunately,...

My condolences, Tony. My wife got one, as well. The knife is not all that great. Hard as **** to sharpen, and doesn't hold an edge at all. This morning my wife said, "The way you sharpen that knife, it doesn't stay sharp for long." I've tried explaining that the steal is garbage...

I have a Citizen "Eco-Zilla" that is my favorite. It runs from solar energy, and I like the fact that I never have to worry about a battery. And it's an extremely tough watch. Huge as a hockey puck, too.

Freezing comes from the mind being overloaded, and computing through the different options that one has. It can also be simply from fear to act. Ever hear of "Paralysis by Analysis"? The mind simply cannot compute correctly though the adrenal dump. Been there myself. It sucked. Training MI...
