All of mine are Surefire; M3 Millenium and M2 Centurion are carry favorites, but they use expensive lithium batteries, so I also have an L7 that uses rechargeable batteries for use at work.

There is so much for the empty (live) hand to be doing, and so many scenarios..... I wish I had three hands and arms! FWIW, Bram Frank is a lefty, but designed the Gunting for the right hand, and all of of his training drills are conducted in equal amounts for each hand. If I recall correctly, he ca...

Welcome to the forum! :) The first defensive Spyderco I bouht was a Civilian, and while I have "outgrown" the Civi, and want a knife capable of thrusts, I do still carry a Civi regularly, while in police uniform, as its slimness makes it so easy to carry and conceal in addition to my other...

Word came over the radio that a police car had been involved in a bad accident; I was the first police car to arrive, a few seconds after the first fire/rescue units. A police car had been hit in the left rear quarter at an intersection, causing the police car to spin and come to rest with its right...

I wear a big-city police badge. A car chase ended at a home, where the drunk driver used her automatic garage door opener to let herself into the garage, then shut the door behind her, but not before several of us managed to run into the garage. Her car doors were locked, the engine was running, so ...

Rest in Peace. The shame of it all is that a breach of security protocol by one of her fellow guards set all of this in motion. The deceased officer was not the one who messed up. Her horse also had to be euthanized.

If EDC means carry everyday, then yes, I EDC a Civilian, for its original purpose, close-range back-up defensive weapon. I do not use it for utility cutting, period. That is what my Mili, SAK, Stider AR, and various other blades are for. I like the Civi because it is so slim and small, making concea...

Gunting, Chinook? If those are not big enough, Strider makes the GB and AR, though the big choil makes those more tool than weapon. I carry an AR almost daily.

I used my Assist to break a drunk driver's front passenger window at the end of vehicular pursuit. (police chase) She had driven into her garage, and the automatic door closed behind her. It looked like she was trying to put the car into gear again, so it seemed the right time to use glass breaker, ...

I use a Ronin as a neck-carry knife most days of the week. At work, which is police patrol, I conceal a Civilian for its designed purpose. I have a Dodo and Military in my Jeep, and these are used regularly to cut various things. I have various rescue models stached in various places, which see use,...

Yes, more than once. I remember losing a Mariner while kayaking on a day trip in the Trinity River delta. (Texas) My Mili snagged the wheel well of a vehicle, and fell to the pavement, but I heard it fall, and got it back. There have been more times, I think, but I cannot recall details right now. I...

P'kal

I didn't have as much time at the show as I had hoped; an hour or so Saturday and several hours on Sunday, which meant not nearly enough time at the Spyderco booth, but I did really handle the P'kal, and must say it is VERY WELL DONE. I am lucky in that I live in a state that allows carry of fixed b...

I would like to see another run of Ronins produced! I would be willing to pre-order two or three of them, and pre-pay, if that's what it would take. Though I like the small, original handle, I know one criticism some had was the small handle, so perhaps a slightly larger handle would help sell anoth...

I buy things I want to use. When I find something that works really well for me, I have learned from experience to buy spares.
