Regarding the Raven Concealment Phantom, I recently acquired one, to fit a Glock G17/G22 with X300 light mounted. The craftsmanship is truly excellent, and the design of the holster minimizes the bulk of the weapon/light combo. I have yet to transition to my G17, however, so cannot provide a long-te...

I do use weaponlights; an X200 and X300 by Surefire. My Safariland duty holster accomodates a WML on my SIG P229R. In the past, I used the Surefire lights integrated into the forend of shotguns, and my wife's shotgun still has such a light. I am a bit concerned when I read that folks are using a han...

Years ago Al Mar designed the "Smatchet"...that would fit your description/requirements quite nicely.
I think the Smatchet pre-dates the late great Al Mar's knive designing days. It was a WW2-era knife. Al Mar made a replica.

A Civilian's blade must be quite flexible, which would limit the steel possibilites.

The Ronin certainly got my attention! I have about half a dozen of them, plus I managed to acquire a pre-owned Snody hand-made Ronin, in rough shape. I liked the original Yojimbo enough to buy two. I would not mind seeing an updated Ronin-like fixed blade from Spyderco, with perhaps a different hand...

Multi-tools and SAKs seem innocuous enough, in just about any environment. I have noticed, however, that even geek types wll often have a folder conspiciously clipped into a pocket. I reckon it is because electronics tend to be packaged in quite tough plastic. It is not at all difficult to manage to...

tortoise, I, too have a scar from a Gunting, though not from using the ramp to deliberately open the knife. One time, I clipped it into my right front pocket, rather than my usual method of using a kydex sheath. Then, I forgot the Gunting, and reached into the pocket to grab something, and snagged t...

I still visit, sometimes! I have become quite immersed in photography; my internet time is larely spent trying to learn about that. I still have my Civilians, Guntings, Yojimbos, and Ronins, plus a few more, so I rarely think of buying knives these days. Familiar knives become comfortable, and comfo...

I used them on Glocks, when I used combat tupperware as duty pistols. Now that I use SIGs, I prefer the SIG non-tritium rear sight. In concept, the original SIG bar-dot sight system (non-tritium) is much like the Straight-8.

A Yojimbo 2 sounds interesting. Of course, I have not yet worn out my Guntings and Ronins, so my original Yojimbos are still unused. The Yojimbo 2 would need to offer something new and different to really get my attention.

My EDC is not a Spyderco, but a Tarani Masters Model Karambit, made by Blade-tech. (This was before the 5.11 era.) I regularly tote a Spyderco Civilian as a hide-out back-up when at work. If I want to add an extra knife, for special occasions, that would be a Spyderco Ronin, a truly superb weapon. I...

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah, I lost a small Patagonia Atom daypack, which contained my Assist and a Victorinox multi-tool. That was an expensive loss. I forgot to mention I also like my Dodo; it is one of my working blades! It rides in my fingerprint kit while working. I bet that will raise some co...

I need to pay more attention! Been away too long...

Wow. I have been lax in paying attention! Temperances with Micarta handles! Milis with Ti handles! I went to the Knifeworks.com website to check a few things out, and then went to the Spydercos to see about replacing a lost Assist, and see new cool stuff. I am a user much more than a collector, and ...

Well, the strange noise was not as bad as feared, but the alignment, four new tires, and new brake pads killed off ten hundred-dollar bills. New shocks and struts, which I really should do before a trip, will kill off more . I still want to make the trip, but discretionary funds will be extremely sh...

Congratulations on your Ronin find/purchase! I wore Ronins on my belt after seeing SouthNarc demo his Disciple and Clinch Pick prototypes at the Blade Show. One, Clinch-Pick style in front, to one side of the belt buckle, and one upright, just forward of the hip. After I had my own CP and Disciples,...
