Re: CBSA going after flipper type opening
Has anyone brought a Manix 2 across the border into Canada since January 5th? I was going to order one of the BHQ Manix 2’s but changed my mind after I received a letter from CBSA stating that they had confiscated a knife being shipped to me and will let me know in 6-8 weeks if it is admissible. Th...

Re: DLC coating outside the US
Was thinking about this as I debated a purchase of a blacked out Matriarch 2. I'd like the most durable coating. Otherwise, I might as well get the non-coated version... Absolutely the exact same dilemma here. :D I have both versions of the Matriarch in my shopping cart and can’t decide which to bu...

Re: Machete recommendations
The Kershaw Camp 18 is a good machete for about $50 with sheath. 18” blade and about 24” long. I use it for everything in the woods except batoning. I was going to invest in a higher end machete, but I really like the Camp series. The Camp 12” is apparently also nice for a smaller machete, but I hav...

Re: Cupped washers
How many knives would one have to own (or how hard would they have to be used) to have had to send knives physically back to at least SEVEN different (listed in OP) manufacturers for warranty work?
That seems a bit odd to me.

I hope they only make knives that I loathe moving forward. I think I bought 18 Spyderco/Byrds.... in the last 3 months!

Smaller and much cheaper Civilian for sure. Also FRN vs. g10. Smaller tip, but not sure if it is thicker...Evil D wrote:I thought the Matriarch was designed to be a more user safe Civilian, with a thicker tip that's less likely to break.

Re: Hawkbill Blades: Small vs Bigger? general uses?
My wife bought me a Ladybug Salt Hawkbill for Christmas because she thought it was “cute”. It is actually a very useful little blade and I carry it quite often when wearing dress pants or in a winter coat pocket. It will be in the back pocket of my swim trunks all summer for fishing and kayaking. N...

I’M buying the new Clip. Kinda like a cross between a Tenacious and a SAK. Pretty cool for the $$$ and it includes a full sized blade.

Most of my knives have small and simple 550 paracord lanyards. I just like them. To each their own.

Re: Para 3 and the infamous clip
The MXG short clip makes the Para 3 perfect for me. I hated the original clip and placement and would have returned the knife if I couldn’t swap out the clip. Anyone looking for something the same as a P3 but a bit different should look at the Native 5. It has almost identical dimensions. I own both...

Wow, that’s a lot of knives at once. It might be too much for me to handle. Shinyitis overload. :p I buy almost all of my knives from Canada Blades. Very competitive and awesome to deal with. Since the Canadian Border Services are cracking down on many folders being imported, my usual BladeHQ and US...

Re: Spyderco Ceramic Knife: Your design input welcomed!
I’ve had a couple. They dull through fracture and then are impossible for most people to sharpen. I would think ceramic would perform especially poorly in a serrated edge. Sorry to be another spoil sport, but I’ll pass. Same here. I have had a few high quality ceramic kitchen knives and they were g...

Re: Calling all Canadians - Canadian knife discussion
Looks like this will change the design for a "canuk" model? We've had a number of "go-arounds" with the crown and laws. We even built a machine that measured the force to open a knife so we could build to a rule. They weren't interested. I think it's law enforcement that is conc...

Re: Knife insurance
Why would anyone buy “knife insurance” if they have home and car insurance? Unless you have tens of thousands of $$$ into a knife collection. I had a couple of camping knives, my golf clubs and a bass guitar stolen out of my truck in my driveway a few years ago and all was covered under my house ins...

Re: MAP policy change? 35%
I have heard from a smaller store that with the improved margins, they've begun to stock spydercos when they hadn't normally, so that's something positive. Of course they will, they can sell them for more money and still pay the same as they were paying to have them on the shelves. Isn't that what ...

Re: Para 3 salt
I would buy that for sure!
I love my Para 3 in S30V.
A LC200N Para 3 with a full Spyderedge would be killer. It would have everything that I want in a kayaking knife that the Native 5 Salt doesn’t (my preferred size and the compression lock ideally).
