Re: Ouch! Lost my old school FRN Serrated Delica today
Sorry, man. I've misplaced knives, but all have been found, sooner or later. Once I spotted my Millie in the bottom of a trash sack that I was about to take out.

Re: What's your favorite work knife
Define work. At the office, a Manix serves me well. If I'm working in the yard or doing vehicle maintenance, I'm more likely to be carrying an Endura, but I'm struggling to think of a cutting task in the yard or the under the hood where the Endura has an advantage over the Manix. Maybe it's just bec...

My Endura didn't make it's estimated delivery today. Maybe Monday.

Re: Folder designed for food prep
My Millie is my favorite Spyderco for food prep, with my Endura being a close second. If I'm just cutting up an apple with my lunch, a Manix works great.

Re: Selling used Spydies
I've had pretty good luck selling my excess knives on a motorcycle website that has a forum for selling misc stuff, and I didn't have to become a paying member. Everybody likes knives. You don't have to sell them on a knife-specific forum. :)

Re: Which spyderco is in the mail?
I've missed my lightweight orange FFG Endura 4 that I sold a few months ago. So, I did the logical thing and ordered another one, but I went for brown this time.

Somebody has to ask. What real Spyderco would you want if you were alone on Mars?

Re: Wave modification on Military...
Hardness is generally an indication of edge retention. Blade strength comes up when people want to pry on things or split firewood with their knives (Don't try this with a Millie. :))

Re: Native 5 question...
My Native 5 felt stiffer to open than my Endura, even when the pivot was oiled and loose enough to fall open with the lock released. I thought it was something to with the geometry of the hole and/or the stiffness of the spring.

Re: Wave modification on Military...
I would assume this destroys the pocket on your jeans fairly quickly. Do you go back to opening it the regular way after that?

Re: Wave modification on Military...
Waving a FFG probably creates a weak blade.

Re: Wave modification on Military...
If you try to relocate the clip for tip-up carry, there is no steel liner in that end of the knife to drill and tap. I'd suggest buying something else if you want a wave that bad.

Re: Sharpening S110V
If you are surprised it needs sharpening after three months of use either you have unrealistic expectations of the steel or your acceptable level of sharpness is much lower than mine. S110V isn't magic, it still gets dull. Subjectively I would say you are lucky if S110V stays sharp twice as long as...

Sharpening S110V
My dark blue Manix didn't slice a tomato very well the other morning, so I decided it was time to sharpen it. It's been in the rotation since October and I'm a bit surprised that it's already needing a touch-up. I don't have a good way to quantify how much I've used it, but so far the edge retention...

+1Able Dog wrote:The Manix 2 LW BD-1 looks legit, did you mean to buy the BD-1 version? If you did, then it seems you got the right knife, but the wrong Edge-U-Cation sheet.
If you were trying to buy the LW in S110v, then you have a bigger problem.

Re: Lets talk locks
I do have liner-lock knives, but the thought always lingers in the back of my mind: If enough stress is put on that liner, its gonna cave, and there goes the finger, God-forbid! Hehe. I try to follow the old rule of using a locking knife as if it didn't have a lock. If I need to stab or pry on some...

Re: Lets talk locks
Tough choice. I currently own 1 lock back, 2 ball-bearing locks, and one liner lock. I like them all for different reasons. I tried a compression lock, but it was clumsy for a lefty. I picked liner because the lock on my Millie is so simple and yet locks up so well. It's so comfortable to open and c...

Re: I love lock back knives!
I agree with the left-handed comments. Being a lefty limits my choices. I like my Manix2's,but in the back of my mind, I wonder if the ball bearing lock is as reliable as my simpler Endura 4.
