Re: Let's take a look inside my Police 4
Correct. So not only does Spyderco tell us they're stainless steel liners, but we also know that K390 is a more expensive steel upgrade... so a business wouldn't intentionally use a more expensive corrosion prone steel for handle construction without any benefit. So you believe Spyderco's collatera...

Re: Anyone from or moved to Alaska?
I've been in Alaska on vacations and loved it, absolutely gorgeous (Anchorage, Salmon River, Fairbanks, and Denali). And, my better half and I have decided to move away from California a few years down the road, and Alaska was on the list .... However, in the end, we picked WY instead. Has much of A...

Re: Knives ruined...
Nice write-up, I'm a fan too ! The other knives which will stick around, despite the P4, are a Rex 45 Military, Hap 40 Delica Pakkawood, V-toku2 Stretch 2, and Zdp-189 Endura. With those knives, there is no need for anything else, but that's another topic. Almost agree with you on the list above (De...

Re: What makes S90V so special?
Love s90v. For my use it's just as corrosion resistant as as M390 (Larrin's data confirm this), but easier to sharpen on ~600-800 wetstones (burr?). Also, I've had Spyderco's s110v and m390 chip, but s90v not yet. I do suspect Spyderco runs s90v a little softer than m390 (60 vs 62 HRC?). How do you...

Re: Idea: Lanyard Tube Removal Tool
I am unsure why they need to be flared. The tube with stock scales is important mechanically because of the floating stop pin, that's why it's flared. Only one scale screw, Pivot and Lanyard keep the knife together. Annoying really, I've changed PM3 scales, adjusted them for good action, and then p...

Re: POLL: Who´d like to see a knife along the lines of the Caribbean, but with a BACKLOCK?
But both linerlock and now comp. lock Spyders have as well "choil-/ricasso-versions" PLUS "no choil-edge all the way back to the handle"-versions. Backlock knives not, except the Centofante. But that one is a quite specialized knife, with its thin hollow grind and furthermore it...

Re: Knife myths you should not accept as true a priori (meant to be a POSITIVE thread!)
Otherwise a good thread; here is a Myth to add to your list: - High HRC is equal high wear resistance Carry on :) This is a myth? Perhaps you mean that higher HRC doesn't automatically mean steel A will have higher wear resistance than steel B? There are other factors but HRC most certainly does ha...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Finished this in the morning. Got it cheap on ebay, as it was mislabeled, put in multi-row ceramic bearings with steel washers last week, sharpened on my Japanese wet-stone (~800grit ?) this morning. Knife appeared to have been used a bit, tip was still great. Ready to carry :) https://photos.smugmu...

: : : - Backlocks are hard and awkward to close / operate one handed : No. Has been discussed a lot lately, it just takes a bit more practice than with other locks maybe : : : My friend: have you ever considered that you make other people feel stupid or less dexterious by emphasizing this over, and...

Re: How About a Para 3 in CTS-20CP and Gray G-10?
I'll buy any 20CP knife with a blade >= 3" that Spyderco will manufacture :) Only have the PM2, and that is a "dress knife" now as it's so rare.
Speaking of which, I'll take an s90v Para 3 just as well. And grey would be OK. In fact any color other than pink will work :).

Re: Small Knife Blues
I know that it's been kicked around like a ball but can we please get a sprint or exclusive other than a PM2 with something longer than a 3" blade. How are any of the Taichung models coming along? I can't be the only one who wants a new issue of a decent sized knife. I am getting pretty tired ...

Re: H1 SE Tatanka LW Salt Anyone???
Asking for a LW version of the Tatanka is just silly. Even as is, I feel the liners on my Tatanka are on the thin side. For actual use, that is. It's too large for my pockets anyways, so it's carried in a sheath. https://photos.smugmug.com/Picture-a-Week/2019/January-2019/n-T8nww7/i-VVs6BMm/0/ad2336...

The correct answer is: buy another Manix 2 (for example s110v?) for the CF scales. :)

Re: Any detriment by having 2 pairs of PB washers on my Ouroborous?
Where can one buy aftermarket washers? For example here: https://www.knifekits.com/vcom/knife-making-parts-washers-c-60_87.html BTW, if you are good with a small round file, not too hard to adjust the inner diameter if it's only slightly too small. Like I had to do for Military/Chinook. On some kni...

Re: Military 2. What exactly is going on?
So with the stop lock being on the market with no update on the Military 2 in years, it begs the question I asked: What happened to this model? I finally got a reply from Spyderco, Vivi, on the respective question that I emailed them a week ago. Good news, you are right, the Military 2 is still in ...
