Re: So I bought my first Cold Steel knife.
The only thing about Cold Steel is that the owner is a bully. He lays claim to long known, and commonly used names that pre-date him (like San Ma, et al.) and then sends threatening letters to other companies that continue to use these names. Then, he has the unmitigated gall to use a hole in some ...

Right now it's a old Golden made CPM 440V Native I bought back in the late 1980's.

Re: Spyderco’s Polestar & Alcyone Both OVERPRICED
My Polestar is in transit and I am very eager to get my hands on it. I will be arriving in the US next Wednesday and it should be there waiting on me. I ordered a polestar and a lil subhilt but honestly, I am more excited about the Polestar as I think it is far more likely to be a knife that I will...

Not that this addresses the business issue...but it's useful to remember that life could be worse than having too many good ideas well executed. :spyder:

Re: Spyderco’s Polestar & Alcyone should not be in the “VALUE LINEUP”
I agree with Lance in that it will be much more difficult to educate the "budget" buyer to the subtilties of the value of paying more for a Polestar & Alcyone, than it will be to "tweek" those models to appeal to an a educated knife buyer. Some choices : 1) further upgrade th...

Re: Asking stores/franchises for food that is still good but to be thrown away?
If I were hungry and didn't have money to buy food to put on the table I would ask. Then I would go back to that store, thank them, and ask if there wasn't something I could do for a few hours to repay the favor. 9 times out of ten this will lead to a job. Otherwise, most big outfits/franchises and ...

Re: Manix II spring tension
A couple of comments: 1) It is quite common for coil springs to lose initial spring rate with some break in, and it is absolutely not defective. A spring that constantly loses tension would be defective. If you've ever lifted a truck by replaceing the coil overs, you know not to adjust the suspensi...

Re: Manix II spring tension
I think I perhaps got lucky because the stock Manix 2 C101GP2 I order last week arrived with a very smooth action...with less tension than that on the HK Axis Benchmade I own. This is my first Manix 2, and I must say, the work coming out of Golden is exceptional. This is a VERY well put together kni...

Re: Picking a new EDC fixed blade
Had you considered the Spyderco Street Beat FB15 ?....it's been discontinued and retailers have been discounting them deeply You can carry the knife in five different positions: vertically, inverted, cross-draw, small of back or in a horizontal position. * length overall 7 3/16" (183mm) * blade...

Re: First Knife of 2018
I received a Sprint Caly 3 HAP40 last week...it exudes Moki-built quality. VERY nice attention to fit and finish...and quite reasonable for just under $130. This is a knife that will last and satisfy for many, many years. Nice work, Sal and Co. !

Re: So I bought my first Cold Steel knife.
I bought a Large Voyager last year on sale when they made the switch from AUS8 to BD1 and I use it as my dedicated "backpacking folder"; it's got that "bullet-proof" Demko backlock, and the AUS8 gets very sharp and is easy to maintain in the field. As well, I picked up a Code 4 w...

With the price of the KC HAP40 Pakkawood Endura now close to $170, which to me is just silly...I would personally go for the rvtoku2.

Re: Clean olive oil off karahawk
I would think that a bit of WD40 sprayed on a cloth would remove it, or if you have a spray degreaser (I keep some around to clean my bike chain) or "Goo-Gone" which is a very effective orange oil based adhesive remover (I use this to remove the tape residue build up on my knife blades aft...

Mine arrived today, and, boy howdy, are these nice. VERY impressive fit and finish. This is my first HAP40 blade, and I am looking forward to "wringing it out." This may be my last Spyderco for a spell what with the MAP policy change...part of their CQI program no doubt. :p I'll "hunt...

$191 for the Lil Temp....well then, OK...perhaps sometime later for me. Those Japanese made Spydercos seem to keep sky-rocketing up in cost.
