Re: Closing one handed: Faster with a backlock than with a compression lock.
https://youtu.be/6eFuENF5c08 Here is one to see just for fun. You do realize that the Tri-Ad lock adds a stop pin so the lock bar tooth is compressed between the blade tang and the stop pin, right? The Tri-Ad lock takes advantage of steel's high compressive strength just like the compression lock d...

Re: Why put liners in the Delica?
The Native LW and G10 S30V both went liner-less. I agree with switching the FRN Delica and Endura to liner-less. I've never had good results with getting clips tight on Spydies where the clip screws mount into the thin metal liners. I love molded in thread inserts on anything that doesn't have a met...

Re: Top 5 knives you actually carry
The vast majority of the time I carry a Spyderco Sage 2. Now that the weather is getting hot again, I'm transitioning to the Spydiechef for somewhat regular carry. When I need something with a short blade that I can afford to lose, I carry either a Cold Steel Tuff Lite with blue handle, or a sage gr...

Re: I have lost...
The Cat and Chicago are neat options in the $50-$60 range with the upgrade to BD1N. If you want something really inexpensive that will hurt your wallet even less if you lose it, the upcoming Insistent (mini Efficient) at $41 from the value line looks pretty interesting.

Re: s90v SHAMAN IS OUT
...A Shaman LW with a wire clip and flat, squared, FRN similar to the Native LW? Count me in! This might be a good opportunity to try a "straight to CPM-CRUWEAR" production model with a nice new color of FRN/FRCP and a DLC version and a stonewash version. Then follow up with a blacked out...

Re: Least liked thing about a favored Spydie
I still want an orginal ATR style titanium integral compression lock on an R or Domino style & size knife, with a Vanax blade. On that theme, I'd love a Sage 2 with an LC200N or Vanax blade. I wish the handle on the SpydieChef was just a bit longer. I wish the cutout in the handle to access the ...

Re: Would you buy a Golden, CO USA EARTH Made Tenacious Lightweight?
I'd be interested in a 3 to 3.5 inch long, thin(er) stock, edge to the handle, no or low ramp, bladed folder with a wire clip. Tenacious / Polestar style cutting edge and front of handle, meets Efficient or Chaparral style rear of handle. Maybe a Mini Carribean LW with wire clip, conventional stainl...

Re: Replaceable blade folding mule
Maybe any folding Mule design needs to be “clunky” in some way so as to discourage the eBay flippers from playing. In other words, develop a design only a steel junky could love. I really like the interchangeable blade concept. I understand, but disagree. Having to add scales and a sheath on top of...

Re: Quick heads up especially for Europeans: Endela in stock at lamnia
Probably. That seems to be the standard upgrade steel on the Seki City made models. I wonder how long until we get a Salt version of it. Pacific Rim? Bering Sea? Indian? Arctic? Southern? Sea of Japan? Mediterranean?

Re: Replaceable blade folding mule
Spyderco can sell the blade & mated lockbar as a pair for lockback. It is easy to swapt and tolerances will not be an issue. They can also sell it as a pair of slipjoint version as a slipjoint is actually lockback with the back of mating notch ground off. Or locking version with tiny hole (non ...

Re: Replaceable blade folding mule
Looking at how shallow the lock face area is on the blades of the Buck design, I'm wondering if Spyderco could simply make a back lock bar with a radiused tooth that would no longer lock the blade open. Maybe sell the handle portion as a kit where customers could specify locking back bar or non-lock...

... By now, I have 3 liner-less Ti Manix'es (M4, S110V, and hollow ground S30V), and have been using them for several months. They seem to hold up very well. https://photos.smugmug.com/Picture-a-Week/2019/02152019/i-SFRSrJ3/1/8972e3f6/X2/tn__DSC7842%20-1-X2.jpg https://photos.smugmug.com/Picture-a-...

Re: Would you buy an AEB-L Military?
Not in any steel at the price the Military goes for with a liner lock. When they switch the Military to a compression lock, then I'll consider one. If AEB-L proves easy to sharpen (hopefully I'll be able to snag one of the new Urban LW folders in AEB-L), and it's as tough as Larrin's data indicates,...

Re: Spyderco Screw vs Pinned issue again.
No offense man (and I genuinely mean that) but your point wasn't necessary, nor was rehashing this debate. We all know red loctite is the devil, we all know there are lesser grades of thread locker. If you genuinely mean not to offend me, then don't tell me my points or opinions aren't necessary; a...

Re: Spyderco Screw vs Pinned issue again.
We reeeeally do not need to make this another asinine debate about loctite guys...we have been there and beat a whole ranch full of horses to death over it. The POINT was that preferences vary and just like the screw vs pin debate there are pros and cons. Whether you like red loctite or not is irre...

Re: Spyderco Screw vs Pinned issue again.
Besides which, as has been proven on this forum hundreds of times, not everyone is competent to operate a screwdriver. My Spydercos require inspection on a regular basis to ensure all the screws are tight. Not fond of that. My Great Eastern Cutlery knives, being traditional slip joints are all pinn...

Re: Is the Manix 2 LW moving to BD1N?
I agree with screw construction as long as it is not a deal killer. I've had my blue LW for years and I've used it hard. It's still tight as a drum. I'm not sure about a Salt Manix 2 LW. I don't think it's possible to make that CBBL lock corrosion proof. Just make the lock ball and anvil out of LC2...

Re: Replaceable blade folding mule
If a swappable blade folding mule were to be a locking folder, it would make sense to have the locking parts be integral to the “handle,” and the blade part be set into that. Mating a bunch of blades to a lock seems like a risky task and more work than most would want for switching steels. It might...
