I suggest you trade it for a Manix. Liner locks in general have little to no closing bias. They do not snap shut of their own accord. You have to push them shut until the detent ball snaps into the detent hole in the blade tang, which is in the last quarter inch or so of travel. None of my Millies s...

The BG-42 is indeed easier to sharpen, and it holds an edge quite well. That said, when it comes to cutting on the rough stuff, the S90V blows it out of the water. I do almost all my PE sharpening on diamond hones, so the extra effort to sharpen S90V is tolerable, and for me the results are more tha...

Which explains why we now have Schrade Dyad knock-offs, of course.

First of all, Welcome to the Forum! :) To answer your question for myself, knives are my foremost hobby. There was a time not too long ago when a new gun would have precluded an expensive knife, or the money would have gone for reloading components. Before that, paintball supplies would have taken p...

When I was out on submarine patrol, I used to let my hair and beard grow way beyond Navy regs. I mean, who's going to see me? It isn't like the brass can drop in unexpectedly. About a week before we pulled in to port, I'd trim my hair and beard back to within the standards, and life would go on. One...

The problem is obvious. Sal doesn't spend enough money advertising in their publication. ;) Seriously, it sounds like one man's opinion, and there are a lot of people out there who have never heard of Spyderco, much less handled one. Those average buyers who have tried a Spydie often have only exper...

I alternate a downward pull stroke starting at the heel with a downward push stroke starting at the tip. This allows me to sharpen the very tip without worrying about rounding it off by dragging it off the corner of the stone, and it ensures that both sides of the scallops get sharpened equally. I us...

Before I got a SharpMaker, I worried about it rounding off the points of the serrations, especially if I just used the same stroke as a plain edge. I thought I would need to run each individual scallop down the rods seperately to keep everything correct. I was wrong. Just before last Christmas, I pi...

So as soon as the liners get thick enough, the knife suddenly becomes a framelock with scales instead of a linerlock. Interesting viewpoint. I'm not really making fun of you here Tricod. To me, a knife with scales on the outside and a lock with the geometry and construction of a Sebenza would be a l...

Yes, the liner lock will last the lifetime of the knife, since the lock no longer working means the knife is worn out. ;) Everything wears out eventually, backlocks, compression locks and plunger locks included. My old 440V Military has less lock travel than my newest S90V Military. I expect both to...

I believe it is considered a refinement of the original, rather than a variant of it. I've never seen a CC numbered original SpydeRench, so they may not have been considered knives for that purpose. I don't expect to see any of the new ones numbered for those two reasons.
