Well, I've got a Kamisori type razor coming from S.K. Colling. It will be a while, yet. Still, I'll be glad to get it.
How will you protect the edge when stored. Does he provide some type of guard?

Re: Face lathering

I occasionally face lather but prefer the bowl.
All my soaps do well on the face except mitchells.
Never can get the rich thick yogurt texture I like with mitchells except in a bowl.

Re: Jim Green boots?

The good thing about red wing is they list the last for every boot and shoe they make. The last is the mold they use to form the shape of the boot/shoe. Any style boot or shoe they make with the same last# should fit the same. I've tried on a lot of red wing boots in their stores over the decades a...

I discovered something. I found out that I like a pinch grip on the razor with the handle sticking straight out and not up or down. I get more control.
Now that I think of it, 90% of the time I'm doing the same. I reckon the blade is best balanced this way.

I 2nd the mitchells.
Most of the others I’ve tried aren’t much better than using none at all.

Re: Anyone use a safety razor?

I know it sounds goofy but If you have a way of stropping a de blade on clean leather, it makes all the difference in how smooth a new blade is (no cuts/weepers/etc), and how many shaves they’ll last. After 2 or 3 shaves, it will also realign the edge and let the blade live on for another 2 or 3 sh...

Re: Straight Razor from Spyderco

Theres a wood called osage orange. Grows naturally in the us. Beautiful grain, bright purple heart wood, with bright orange wood around it. Has natural water repelling oils. Fence posts made from it last 80 years without rotting in wet soil. Nice dense wood, and very pretty on knife handles. I would...

I should probably get me a premium 10-12k synthetic to see what all the fuss is about.

Re: Anyone use a Straight razor/Artist Club razor/Shavette razor?

For sure. As much as I'd like to try out some of those pristine 200+ year old razors, guess I'm stuck gambling on the $20 ebay beaters.

Re: Knife Center Personal Data Leaks

Yeah, one major advantage of credit cards over debit cards that people don't realize, is that with a credit card you can dispute the charge with your issuing company; with a debit card, it comes right out of your bank account, and there's nothing you can do. It might depend on the issuing bank but,...

The problem with fixed handle razors is as Vandelay said, adequate edge protection.
