I use the benchstones, the medium and the fine. To improve angle consistency I made a stand for the stones that I can give a preset angle. Very much like the sharpmaker. I keep my Delica at a 30 degrees inclusive and most of my other knives at 40. I'm quite happy about it. :)

Most pronounced feature of the R2 is how the handle fits the hand, size and thickness are close to perfect. Btw, that is one awesome Police model, Worker#9.

Depends on the cleanliness of the steel, with what other materials it is alloyed and by how much and it all depends very much on the heat treament. Normal, very good steels used for knife blades (VG-10, ATS-34 for example) are hardened to around 60 Rc. The new supersteels like ZDP-189, SGPS, Supraco...

Wel Paul, think of the outer layers as less brittle and change the rubber in your example for wood. This way your glass is much less prone to breaking then if it was glass alone.

A laminate consists out of three layers, the middle one is the hard steel. In this case the ZDP-189 which is hardened to around 64 Rc. The outer layers are made of a softer steel, normaly more flexible. This way you have a blade with a hard cutting edge and a reasenable amound of flex to prevent bre...

You can find more info on http://www.pumaknives.de . The steel is 14110 which is comparable with 440 A. At http://www.toolshop.de to have for 159 Euro, so the $350 mentioned in the above link beeing the normal retail price, I don't understand.
