1. Tuff- in my use, it was too thick and bulky to be a good cutter, so it rarely got used

2. Dragonfly- I found the handle to be extremely uncomfortable and couldn't get a good grip on it

3. GB Air- smaller than I expected, and the handle had no ergonomics

Someone else can go, as every time I try to upload an image the file size is too large. Would have been a carbon fiber S90V XL Manix 2.

Thats very interesting, I didn't know that. I always thought true DLC was only found on very expensive knives.

I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain that the coating is actually PVD, not DLC.

The Traditional sub-forum over on Bladeforums has done a forum knife that way for several years. What I didn't know was that one member was putting up all the money up front to allow it to go though the forum. The last two years, the forum owner has handled the money collection, ordering and shippi...

Could we fund this through a kickstarter? I like the idea. The problem would be a vote that some may or may not please the majority and then they never contribute to the fund because they have no interest in whatever was chosen. Seems like it would take someone spearheading it and a lot of time / d...

Good luck with a consensus on that. :D Also you're talking around 30K... The thing is, we aren't a dealer, so we would be getting them for wholesale. I haven't done the math, but don't you guys think that we could agree on something like an M4 para for a really cheap price? Also, do you know how ma...

Once we voted on what we wanted and determined the cost, since we are spyderco's forum maybe they could have something on their website we could "buy", but really the funds just go into an account that holds them. If we then had enough to commission the run, whoever put in the funds for th...

Spyderco Forum Exclusive

This may be a bad idea, or crazy, or not possible at all, but what if us at the Spyderco forum could pool together enough money to commission Spyderco to make our own exclusive? I'm not talking about a forum native or something like that, i'm talking about in the same way dealers commission exclusiv...

In my experience with my endura in super-blue, I forced a really dark patina by leaving it in a lemon when I got it and haven't worried about rust since. I recommend doing something similiar if you decide super-blue is right for you. Super-blue will hold a fine edge longer than the steels you mentio...

when I had my Tuff, I had heard a lot of stories about how it was difficult to open. At least for me that couldn't be further from the truth, as it was easy to open and buttery smooth. As to the rust, I mostly kept mine in it's box, and after a couple months there was small bits of rust, so you will...

Yes, I think you are. :) The videos of people spine-whacking knives apply force from spine to edge against the lock. Batoning if done reasonably carefully takes the lock out of the equation: there is force from spine to edge but the lock would not be involved. Ideally, if you must baton a folder, y...

No, batoning goes the other way. And anyone who really wanted to hack/whack the cr@p out of something with a folder would make sure it was unlocked before they started banging on the spine with a baton. But spine-whacking is putting force into the spine side, and when batoning you are also putting ...
