Re: Sharpmaker - what else do you use?

I don't know a ton about sharpening, but I just ordered some dmt mini hones to try out. You get 3 continuous diamond surfaces in course, fine, and extra fine for under $20. Seems like a steal to maintain a good working ege on the high hrc super steels if you can maintain the appropriate angle.

Re: Has the love affair with ZDP-189 ended?

After reading long discussion over BF on ceramics not doing well for Vanadium carbides, I don’t strop or use UF on my S110V anymore. Do you happen to have a link for this? Sounds like an informative read. I imagine e it has to do with keeping those nice carbide for that "buzzsaw" type cut...

Re: What Spyderco is in your pocket today??

Camping with my son and a few blades. Grilled burgers and my homemade chilli over oak coals. Carved marshmallow sticks with our knives, did a little first-aid after my newly sharpened Centofante bit him deep in the pad of his thumb. It's been an amazing afternoon with my little guy. https://78.medi...

Re: Has the love affair with ZDP-189 ended?

Daily carry manix s110v and ladybug zdp 189 and use them both quite a bit. I love them, and I plan to buy everything I can in both these steels in case they discontinue them. It's so weird people have a hard time with them. I would think an occasional touch up with diamonds or ceramic wouldn't be as...

Manix s110v, ladybug zdp 189, and an amethyst. Bad picture quality, it's dark and I'm inside :)

Re: Christmas at my house today...

Congrats!! I have the manix in s110v, but a para 3 or manix in maxamet would be a grail knife for me. The ball lock is just a tad too strong for me, even though I would consider my grip to be far above average. I hope you enjoy yours! Im sure we'd love some pics :D maybe you can post in the "wh...

Re: Too early to be excited for SHOT Show?

Love seeing new collaborations! Spyderco Smock looks fantastic! Big fan of the wharncliffe blade on that one and the low profile front flipper tab! Modified compression lock is really cool too! Definitely a cool looking knife but I feel like that "choil" would get hung up on all sorts of ...

Re: Too early to be excited for SHOT Show?

Not sure what the attraction is to the Techno2 over the original, but I love the Slysz designs so I will eventually give it a shot. Brouwer seems like it has potential. Agreed about the clip placement. Like the looks of the Mantra3. Why ditch the M4 on the Mantra? What does Mantra mean here? Curiou...
