Re: Nick's question of "why"?
SSOOOoooo, Nick did this video on the question of Why? The video is long, but you can tell he's passionate about his question. Jason posted it on another forum. Yes, I watched the whole thing, mostly because I have a lot of respect for Nick. I don't always agree with him, but I always try to see hi...

Re: Nick's question of "why"?
I don't know the man but have a lot of respect for his knowledge and the amount of work he's done for the knife community. Nick has handled a LOT of knives ... but may be becoming a little jaded by being over-exposed. Hopefully one day I'll be in his situation. A lot of his examples of why knives we...

Re: Need help picking out a Mule.
Is the Mule team project is really coming to an end? All I could find was a July 3rd post where Sal said "No new Mule Teams planned at this time." I think this means suspension with the possibility of resumption in the future. I know there was a lot of discussion about changes, but I don'...

Re: Need help picking out a Mule.
That's great! I thought the LC200N ones were all gone. I bought a PD#1 instead, and I'm still working on putting handles on. (Been really busy the past few weeks.) Enjoy that mule and let us know what you think. Website error. I called the shop and they updated the stock. There are about 50 left. I...

Re: Need help picking out a Mule.
Where are you buying from? I was thinking about getting a mule. Probably lc200n. I'm pretty sure the only place you can buy them is from spyderco.com LC200N would be a good pick of the current ones available. It looks like they are out of stock.. Do you just check daily for stock? Your best bet is ...

Re: Spy dk centering issue
Hi Talesk, You could always send it in to Spyderco? sal Thanks Sal. This experience doesn't make me shy away from Spyderco. Things happen in production especially at the volumes spyderco somehow manages to churn out, and I get that. My spy dk is still an amazing knife. Ergonomically I feel it's mas...

Re: Spy dk centering issue
No luck. I tried setting my soldering iron to 700F. My idea is that higher temp on the iron will heat the screw/threads faster and spare the plastic handles. I heated the torx head until I could feel the post warm up on the other side (~10 Mississippi). Then I'd use a rubber glove to give grip and t...

Re: Spy dk centering issue
a tacky rubber mat or clean bike/mtc inner tube rubber under the knife will grip the round pivot head if you use plenty of pressure on the screw, this has gotten a stuck D'fly pivot disassembled for me (not my knife). I'd stay away from using heat with an FRN handle... nylon melts at pretty low tem...

Re: Spy dk centering issue
My old FRCP manix did the same thing with the clip screw. But I was lucky in that I was able to use the grooves for the wire clip to get some pliers on one side and undo the screw.... In your case I dont know what to do. I tried all the previous suggestions and none worked, even the superglue one. ...

Re: Spy dk centering issue
I’m not 100% sure but I think if your pivot is spinning it’s because you’ve damaged the d shaped pivot hole. I did the same thing on a UKPK I bought a while back. Extremely difficult to get unscrewed after this happens. One of the tricks that helped me was finding a block of wood or something, then...

Re: Spy dk centering issue
Dismantle complete. Look at nick shabazz early maintenance videos. He use some paper to keep the blade in one direction and the tighten it. Good luck! Thanks Rick. Unfortunately my pivot seems to be spinning. The other pins were keyed D shaped and easy to get out. I tried to shim it with 2/3 the sc...

Re: Spy dk centering issue
Pivot screw is spinning? Did you get it second hand? I would send it in if it's spinning Brand new from https://www.knifeworks.com. I am in Canada so sending it to USA, paying for spyderco service, and return ship is almost the same as just buying a second unit. Warranty/repair for most companies o...

Spy dk centering issue
I just got my first spy dk... And the centering is quite off.
Any ideas how to fix it?
Pivot adjust didn't seem to do anything, it just spins.
