Honestly the minute I saw the prototype pictures I fell in love with the design. It is a little bit unconventional and the shape of the blade is very unintimidating. I would love to see a smaller version of this one with a 3" blade but the Rock Lobster is on my short list of must-haves for 2008.

If the Lava were made without the sharpening choil with unlinered G-10 (like the Dodo), I'd like it... Make it a wharnie and I'm all over it.

Here's a question... what do you cut the grip tape with?! It's abrasive, isn't it?

Serrations are not too fun to sharpen, but they are worth it when you require the added cutting power! I find a well-sharpened PE knife will do well most of the time but there are occasions when I find myself reaching for something in SE.

Actually yes! I gave away my black PE Para to a good friend and now I find myself missing it. Looks like I'll be getting a new one for myself sometime in the future.

Real tough choice. But for the time being, it would be a lot easier to find a new Mini-Manix at a decent price than another LT.

Of course I agree that Sal's final say need not heed the thoughts and hopes of afi's but that shouldn't prevent us from providing our input for him and the rest of the Spyderco team to consider. After all, he clearly values the afi opinion and general consensus may save a model that would otherwise ...

I think one or two of the Hossoms could be pruned out of the lineup -- having four just makes it difficult to choose. The Lava should go -- the Boker CLB line is too inexpensive and wildly popular for the Lava to really compete with. The Poliwog can go -- it gets very little forum chatter and appear...

I do have one. But it is slow on the draw and desperately needs a Spyderhole!

I don't carry it every day, but it does see pocket time. Today I carried it the entire day, and kept forgetting it was there. But generally speaking when I want a larger blade I usually grab the Millie.

The lockbar tension will ease up over time. After probably thousands of openings, my Endura is nice and easy to open.

My dream knife is a Spyderco built like a Sebenza. Read: Ti handles and stonewash S30V blade with a Spyderhole and some kind of integral lock, be it compression or frame. Sebenza prices? I'd gladly pay it for one of these!

My Endura and Delica go into my EDC rotation right with my Sebenza and Military and Caly3. Why? Because the E4 and D4 really are *that* good.

a, b and c will work themselves out over time. New Spydercos suffer from being brand new and IMHO get better with a little time. As for d, I don't own an E3, so I couldn't say, and for e, you might try adjusting the pivot pin with a Torx screwdriver.

I like black coated as well. It is funny but it seems in my case that the black blade is MORE NKP friendly because they are not used to seeing black blades. I've had a few ask "is that plastic?". YMMV.

SCUBA Probe?

I was at a gun shop and noticed what appeared to be a SCUBA Probe, which, according to The Spyderco Story, is an early model Spyderco from 1989. I don't remember how much, but I remember that I thought it was fairly priced. Is this interesting from a collector standpoint or should I not bother? I'll...

I just thumb the edge and try to slice papers of varying thicknesses. I'll usually only run it along my nail if I suspect flat spots.

I have seen a counterfeit Spyderco Spyderfly online somewhere. Best way to avoid this is just to avoid the 'bay unless you're trying to score something discontinued or rare and buy direct from a reputable dealer.

I doubt you would be able to bend or break an Atwood Prybaby. For the limited leverage they offer, they are plenty strong. That is, even if you can even get your hands on one. The Atwood collectors make these extremely hard to get nowadays. I got lucky-- got mine before he quit making the basic S30...
