Re: Mini Yojimbo Prototype ?
I love the size, blade shape, and overall concept. I'm not loving the large amount of un-used dead space between the index finger and the beginning of the blade edge. The hump above the spydie-hole at the top of the grind line could also use some flattening. Is this design final or still in developm...

Re: Blade HQ M4/Micarta Shaman
This is my first Spyderco Micarta scaled knife... I just got mine in the mail yesterday and I'm noticing a phenolic chemical smell from the handle that also rubs off on my hands. I'm pretty sensitive to chemical smells... anybody know how long this lasts? Presumably it gets less overtime as the scal...

Re: Carter Design & Galley V combo.
Hi Captnvegtble, Not at this time. I imagine if the demand is there, we can always move on it. At this time, the Gauntlet CBN rods seems to be working. sal Thanks Sal. I'll have to give the Galley V another look... I usually free-hand sharpen all my knives, but the Galley V would be much more conve...

Re: Carter Design & Galley V combo.
sal, Quick question, are you using the CBN rods from the Gauntlet in your Galley V? I couldn't find any Galley V CBN rods for sale or not for sale for that matter. Hi Zrows, Yes, I'm using the CBN rods from the Gauntlet in my Galley V. sal Sal, Is there a plan to make longer 12 inch CBN rods specif...

Re: Carter Design & Galley V combo.
I have a Itamae Bunka Bocho in Super Blue, which I absolutely love (https://www.spyderco.com/catalog/details/K18GBNBK/Itamae-trade-Bunka-Bocho/1822). This is the knife which I almost exclusively use in the kitchen now; the quality is excellent and the edge retention is great. It's a steep price, but...

Re: Hawkbill Grail
The Superhawk is in my top 5 designs. I 100%disagree with removing the choil. This is my number one carried hawkbill. I choke up with the choil a lot. Even though I hate the way the comp lock flicks my finger when I open it, there is only one thing I would tweek on this perfect knife. My uniform BD...

Re: Hawkbill Grail
Hi Matt, Thanx for the thread. It's one of those designs that thought was kind of an ultimate Hawkbill. More expensive that I'd hoped for. I named the knife after one of my favorite motorcycles in the 60's. I worked on the design for quite a while. Even the edge was a decreasing radius to keep the ...

A pair of Magnacut Mules with burl ironwood scales... one was a gift for my teenage son, the other is a gift for me! Wow! Those are beautiful Capn'! I just recently ordered some presentation grade burl ironwood myself, hope they turn out half that good. How do get that slant at the thumb area close...

Steel Chart
Spyderco's Steel Chart (https://www.spyderco.com/edge-u-cation/steel-chart/) is such a useful and wonderful tool. I'm curious when it gets updated with the newer steels like Magnacut and SRS13?

Re: Magnacut Fixed Blade
Mules pics are in the mule section 😉 I like how you smoothed down the guard hook. I'm thinking about doing the same with mine. I had to grind down the guard hook in order for it to fit into the leather sheath. But I also like the look of it better. And thank you all for your comments. This has been...

Magnacut Fixed Blade
I thought I'd post some pictures of my new Spyderco Magnacut fixed blade! I haven't seen many photos of peoples' Magnacut Mules scales, so others please feel free to post their pictures. First, thank you Spyderco for running the mule team project and making these available. This was my first Mule pu...

Re: Kiwi 4 lightweight
I very much prefer the size and shape of the original Kiwi (including blade shape and grind). Problem is I wouldn't carry it without a pocket clip. So I think it's time to resurrect the original Kiwi for a Sprint Run with upgraded steel, and put a pocket clip on it.
