My guess is that Sleipner steel doesn’t have enough benefits to justify its price.
Also, D2 which is rather similar to Sleipner is not frequently used in Spyderco knives, probably for similar reasons.

Nope. Different length for these two screws. Which is unfortunate, but I suppose necessary.

Re: Has anyone convexed H1?
I convex all my edges, because I hand sharpen, and prefer wider bevels with convex edge. I find that convex edges hold up to use very similarly to a V bevel with micro-bevel. However, I can get a steeper angle and thus a sharper knife if I convex the entire cutting bevel to the edge of apex. It also...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?
I sharpened mine at about 12-13 degrees per side. I like myself a slicing beast. Did you use a Hapstone Sharpener? and an angle cube to get it that low? I am still taking a military down to 10 degrees a little at a time as a long term project with the Hapstone giving it a Scandi grind. S90V takes a...

Re: Sharpening LC200n at low angles
Yup. I reprofiled mine to ~12-13 degrees per side. It performs really well, and shows much less edge degradation that I originally expected. I may not be as robust as a 30 or 40 inclusive, but it slices 10 times better, and is quite easy to touch up and maintain. I’d say go for it and see how you li...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?
You got yourself a real great knife for a “first Spyderco”. It’s my favorite EDC folder, and it meets my needs as such. I love the performance of the steel, and how it feels on the whetstones. The ergonomics are also great, considering its slender design and ease of carry. The negative blade angle ...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?
I’ve got a CQI version of the Spydiechef. Received it as a Christmas gift. I believe the manufacturing date is September 2018 (IR). This thread got me curious, so I checked out the end of the lock bar closely and tested for play in the lack bar and detent. Thankfully, there is zero blade play when ...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?
PS. CQI stands for Constant Quality Improvement. If Soyderco isn’t aware that issues like these exist- how can they improve? And nobody can say that lockbar stability when testing negative pressure should matter in this case. Because it does. We pay premium dollar for a premium product. If knife co...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?
I twisted in the direction that would have pushed the lock further and theoretically make it more secure. Didn’t workout for my finger, unfortunately. Upon inspection, the knife displayed lock travel laterally when moderate amounts of force were applied to the spine of the blade (I test all my kniv...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?
So you have roughly 10% lock play when manipulating the knife in a way that it wasn’t designed for? You will not get lock play even close to this while using this knife for normal edc tasks or food prep... If you are using this knife for tougher tasks, you would be gripping it in such a way that wo...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?
Yeah that guy is really unlucky! Also wondering how his Spydiechef can have "major stick, lock play (vertical and horizontal)." When a lock is very sticky you don't also have lock play. Also horizontal play is 99.9% of the time due to a loose pivot screw. Pivot is tight AF. No blade play ...

Video can be easily uploaded to IMGR and shared here. I have purchased several knives that come from that factory and the...

Re: What is this on the new Spydiechef lock bar?
Folders have faults. It comes with the ability to fold. And the convenience of carry and storage without a sheath. Go fixed blade or use the appropriate tool. Complaining about innapropriate use is childish. A folder is a slicer period. A Folder can be conveniently carried but is not as stout as a ...
