Re: Forum knife 2020 - final model poll

I voted Chief as it would get the most carry time of those listed.

Re: ZDP for EDC questions

Personally, I'll take VG-10 over ZDP-189 any day. That's based on having carried and used one version or another of the Stretch since November of 2004. While most of them have had VG-10 blades I did carry a ZDP-189 CF Stretch for well over a year. What I found was that, while it held an edge longer...

Re: Sharpmaker?

Like others, I use the Barkeepers Friend and a Scotch pad but find the erasers do seem to make the stones work better. Lansky makes one and there is another called "Supereraser" which seems more course than the Lansky. Both work well. Stones seem to cut better after using the eraser.

Re: Sage 5 Lightweight

I love the Sage family and have all of the Sage's (2 of the 2) but no lightweight. If it had a different steel I might pick one up. Still waiting for the 3.5.

Re: ZDP-189 vs M4 for rainy west coast living?

If you are stuck on the ZDP or M4 I would go with M4. Not as "chippy," holds it's edge well, and in my experience easier to maintain. Like others, I would suggest one of stainless steels or LC.

Re: ZDP-189 - Overrated or Super Steel?

ZDP does have some good qualities though IMO overrated. At the time it first came out it might have been considered a "supersteel" but no longer. It gets sticky sharp pretty easily and holds it's edge reasonably well, though the Spydies I have in ZDP tend to be "chippy" and defin...

Re: Any dog lovers?

Love dogs but after putting our GSD Max down we haven’t gotten another. He was 13 years old. Still miss him bumping me. Was a great family member. He’s got a nice resting place in our front yard.

Re: Caly 3/3.5 interest Poll

YES thank you, 3.5 please. Bolsters with any color polished linen micarta. XHP or other stainless is good with me. I'd buy 2 or 3 in a heartbeat (if I could get them). These would sell out the quickest. :spyder: The 3.5 is one of Sal's finest masterpieces.

Re: Gentleman EDC / Groomsman Gift

Lot of great suggestions here, guess I'd go with the CF Chaparral. Classy gentlemen's knife, carries well, great steel, and wire clip. Lightweight and a lot of cutting power. Maybe engrave their names or date as an added touch. A gift and event they will always remember.
