Spyderco and Benchmade reached an agreement, the terms of which they are not disclosing. That's the end of the matter, and there is an unwritten rule not to discuss it any further on this forum.

Has anyone had issues with CTS-XHP on their Manix 2?

The more I use this steel, the more I like it. It takes a VERY sharp, aggressive edge easily, and holds it for a LONG time. I haven't seen any sign of corrosion or chipping. I'm having trouble finding a downside to it. I don't baby it, but I don't use it really hard, either. Has anyone had problems ...

What would you change?

Obviously, the majority of us here are :spyder: enthusiasts, but that doesn't mean there aren't things we'd like to see different. What changes would you make to your favorite model(s), or across the board?

I'd replace S30V as the standard steel for Golden & Taiwan models with CTS-XHP or Elmax.

Anyone else a fan of Heinie Straight-Eight sights?

I've got them on my 9mm Kimber 1911, and I love 'em.

It seems that :spyder: really got it right with the Sharpmaker. 30 degree inclusive primary bevels, with 40 degree secondary/micro bevels, is a great compromise between cutting ability and durability.

I really like the design, but I can't get past the lack of a lock. I would love to see a version with a lock.

It will look like the other Sages, just with scales and bolsters similar to the ones on the Al Mar.

...The price on the XHP Manix 2 was kept fairly low because 500 were produced, then 500 more later in the year IIRC. This made it fairly easy to get one without paying a premium (if you were willing to wait a bit for the second run). Perhaps Spyderco should always announce Sprints as being limited,...

The idea that I have to get this now, or I will never have another chance, drives the speculative market. If people know they may have another opportunity to get the sprint, even if it's a year out, that would put a big damper on the speculation. Simply reserving the right to do another run, if warr...

I'm not saying produce an unlimited quantity. Just don't say "only 600" up front, when there may turn out to be demand for 1200.

I think :spyder: should just make it known that in the future sprint run quantities will be flexible, not fixed, and may be increased as demand warrants. When demand has run its course, they can declare a particular run closed. Why do they need to ensure high secondary market values for others, when...

Or Para 2. In either case, I have a feeling it will be a dealer, or distributor, exclusive.

Hopefully I'm wrong, it will be a regular production Para 2, and everyone who wants one won't have any trouble getting it at a reasonable price ;)

My understanding is that Elmax has enough vanadium to hold that working edge for a long time, but will also take a finer edge, and hold it longer, than S30V. Is that correct?

It should be slightly tougher and chip resistant with slightly better edge retention over S30V. From my testing S35VN at 59 HRC equals S30V at 60 HRC. However if the end users notice the difference would be anyone's guess. So it doesn't improve on what I consider to be S30V's main shortcoming; fine...

In what areas does S35VN improve on S30V from an end user perspective? I have gotten the impression that its main advantage is being easier for manufacturers to work with.

Who'd like to see CTX-XHP replace S30V?

I have been enjoying my CTS-XHP Manix 2 very much lately. I'm starting to think of it as VG-10 on steroids :D I would be happy to see it become the standard steel for Golden and Taiwan models. Anyone else? Actually, Elmax would be my first choice, but I don't think it's very likely :spyder: would go...
