I believe the difference in bite that you're experiencing is a result of the actual edge being polished and not the bevel itself. That's where you're losing bite, not from the polish/scratch pattern on the bevel. Most of the sharpening junkies on here prefer to polish the bevel, but many of them (u...

My brown/S35v Para2 was about the same. But, like Chuck has suggested, I just doubled up the strokes on one side to kind of even things out and it is hard;y noticeable now.

I don't use mine all that often; certainly not enough to 'justify' carrying one every day, but it is nice to have one on you when you need it. I suppose it's primarily a habit, a habit born from a love of knives. Or on the other hand, maybe it's a habit born from experience; experiences where there ...

It's a toss up between my Randall Model 14 Attack given to me when I completed Grad school, or the recently released Calypso sprint given to me by my team when I left my last job.

Personally, I don't like combo edges. But, if I had to have a knife with a combo edge, it would be a Military since its blade is long enough (in my opinion) to carry both the SE and the PE and get use out of both.

Lately I've been using Nano-Oil and like it well enough. It's not as great as some might claim, but it's pretty darn good. I use the 5wt now as I've found that works in pivots a little better than their 10wt does. I still use their 10wt on all my firearms actions.

Before this thread gets way too technical I will say in so far as the current Spyderco offerings, I agree 100% with the above quote.

The only experience I have with 204P is in my Southard and for some reason it seems to take the sharpest edge I've ever been able to put on any blade, , and hold it very well. Yeah, it might not be my 1st choice for a large fixed blade field knife, but for any folder it has become my favorite steel,...

I'm not a huge fan of VG-10, but I don't 'dislike' it either. It seems to take a good edge, and hold it for a reasonable amount of time. When compared to all the other steels I've got, it is not the best, nor the worst in any of its characteristics so it has become almost a default benchmark on whic...

I too do not like pinned handles. I'm sure there will be loads of people who jump on this thread to blindly defend Spyderco in saying that pinned handles are strong enough. While I agree that they are strong enough; and given the fact that they come with a lifetime warranty it shouldn't be much of a...
