A tangent to this topic for perspective. I got back into knife knuttery about 3 years ago after a 15 year hiatus. I started with Spyderco folders, and I still think they are the best of the pack, overall, of the true contract/mass production houses. That said, I have been able to find the resources ...

Sal - regarding a leather case - there are two companies that presently provide leather slip cases that I am aware of, William Henry and Chris Reeve. The one sold by Chris Reeve is buttery soft, larger that the knife by far and stabilizes the carry in the pocket. The one from William Henry is very s...

Don't think CF would really do much for the Kiwi unless you mean Carbon Fiber Bolsters!! The downside of that would be a very difficult if not impossible Spyderdrop situation. (No weight). You really need that heavy back bolster. But the entire thing out of SS would be way too heavy. Titanium would ...

TK usually has the most useful content. Blade and Knives Illustrated tend toward more collector/art type information. TK however, consistently and regularly makes factual mistakes about knives - such as the maker, blade steel, etc. So take what you read there with a grain of salt. Also, maybe we cou...

Brandon, it is relatively durable, meaning that it will resist the kind of wear scratches that appear mysteriously on stainless handle knives within seconds after touching them. However, any real contact like scraping agains something hard, dropping it, or long term use WILL produce irreparable scra...

Pretty much my favorite blade shape along with a upswept wharncliff. Unfortunately, it is a lock back, which keeps it out of my pocket most of the time. Second, it has the nasty exposed sharp back corner typical of lockbacks - definitely not a positive IMO. One of my fantasy projects would be to get...

Which Custom Collaboration is Closest to the Real Thing?
I have been fortunate enough to own, however briefly, all of the custom collaboration models except for the Horn C27 (bone scales). I have been fortunate enough to own or handle original (or similar) knives by many of the original makers or designers. Of all of these, which one do you think most clo...
