I find it interesting to hear some say they prefer VG10 and H1 over the newest steels on the block. I always thought I was wierd that I liked ATS55 (and even AUS8) just fine. I don't claim to have done a great deal of research into what is in them or the new ones however. Just thought they were fine...

Which polishing wheel and type rouge do you guys use to polish out scratches? I have been thinking about doing this on a large buffing wheel but have been afraid of it not looking very factory.

I agree with yab and scrapped mine as well. Small blades work okay but it is a lot of work. Then the stones dish out and change the angle as well. IMO the traingle stones for serrations did not work at all unless they were nearly directly in line with the clamp. Sharpmaker (or even freehand filing w...

Sal- Based on your response I know that I have put way too much force in any diamond I have used. Doing it your way does the diamond ever seem to get "loaded" with metal? Can you clean them or do they ever need cleaned? I seem to rember DMT marketing that they put those dot spaces between ...

I have been wondering about this guys and was going to start a thread and then saw this one. I used to have a diamond flat stone from ez lap I think and it got "loaded" with metal and would not cut much anymore. I also had a DMT rat tail sharpener that seemed to do the same thing. I have u...

I did an old beat up and abused Endura for a guy at work a few years ago. I took it slow on a belt sander. I had over the years sharpened most of the serrations away or they had been broken by misuse. He was too cheap to buy anything else and I took pity on him. 1. I will not do it again 2. It did t...

+1 to yab's description. AUS8 was marked as such on the blade. Only Del or End I am aware of that are unmarked were Gin-1 (G-2).

Stanton-I agree with you if the blade is just slightly dull. But if the edge has been bent over or rolled I don't think this works real well without some reprofiling and a lot of strokes. Some of the knives guys bring me are terribly dull and damaged but because they are serrated they will still saw.

Factory sharpening / resharpening

I love sharpening knives and do so for most of my coworkers. I have to admit though that I dread sharpening "Spyderco like" serrations.(some kitchen serrations are easy due to the radius involved and the soft steel.) When you get any Spyderco it is scary sharp. If you look at the serration...

Spydersharp-There were at least 3 variations in steel markings in the "first" Endura. The first ones were unmarked under the name Spyderco and had a thin tapered plastic clip. The Second was labeled G-2 and first had a tapered clip but then switched to a fatter clip. The third said AUS-8 a...

This post brings back memories. I ordered two limited run PE Blue handled Delicas when I was expecting my first child. This was not for the child but because I like FRN colors. They arrived the very day my first daughter was born. I went home to take a shower and they were on my doorstep. I opened t...

Sorry I am late to the party. It took me awhile to dig them out of the safe. This is most of my Enduras. You might not be able to tell because I am not a very good photographer but there are no doubles. Kinda surprised me when I got them together. http://img160.imageshack.us/img160/449/enduras006al3...

Well to make it a full catalogue item I suppose might give some competition. But a Sprint run of G-10 Endura's would not hurt anything. There seems to be a lot more 3" knives than 3 7/8 - 4" to choose from. (Yeah I realize they probably sell better but I like 4"!!!!) I am in for any E...

I would buy a waved G-10 Endura for the collection but I would buy SEVERAL G-10 Endura's without wave reguardless of the steel. I agree that it is a bummer that the Cara Cara has it and the good old Endura does not. I have been contemplating seeing how much it would cost for STR to make me one out o...

I did not read every post so maybe this has already been said. For just graduating, a Military would be a great gift and I am sure he would find it useful on AND off duty. My only concern would be in losing it during a scuffle as they are pricey. I also prefer to carry my knife in my left pocket so ...
