I find it interesting to hear some say they prefer VG10 and H1 over the newest steels on the block. I always thought I was wierd that I liked ATS55 (and even AUS8) just fine. Which polishing wheel and type rouge do you guys use to polish out scratches? I have been thinking about doing this on a large buffing wheel but have been afraid of it not looking very factory.

+1 to yab's description. AUS8 was marked as such on the blade. Only Del or End I am aware of that are unmarked were Gin-1 (G-2).

Stanton-I agree with you if the blade is just slightly dull. But if the edge has been bent over or rolled I don't think this works real well without some reprofiling and a lot of strokes. Some of the knives guys bring me are terribly dull and damaged but because they are serrated they will still saw.
