Re: Reveal 15: Shivering with Anticipation
Based on the “pattern” in which the reveals have been released in the past, we still have anywhere from one day to about two weeks before we see it. If that “pattern” is just a coincidence, then it’s anyones guess when we’ll see Reveal 15. Fie! Fie on your data and your logic! My hope was for a new...

Re: If laws and public perception were no issue, would you carry a different knife?
So it got me thinking - would you guys carry a different sized knife if there were no blade length laws and no potential issues with public perception? Ohhhhh... noooooo... I would nevvvvvver carry a knife that was forbidden by our benevolent leaders who lovingly care for our well being. But seriou...

Re: Random Cell Phone Pics...
My first Spyderbite... Technically, it's not really a Spyderbite unless the blood is dripping onto the ground. Your landscape shot is nice. The light and composition are spot on. The picture of the kid cooking makes me happy. Too many youngsters (and families) rely on fast food. Good on ya, pops. H...

Re: Reveal 15: Shivering with Anticipation
I think I'm confused on how the Reveals work - didn't we just get 14? Is it once per quarter? It's been quarterly for a few years. In the Covid Times, there were fewer. And the Reveals haven't been numbered for all that long, so there's insufficient data to formulate a pattern. But that won't stop ...

Re: Questions about maintenance/sharpening
I don’t want to make it too complicated since I’m just getting into the world of maintaining/sharpening knives. Hey, Sky. At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, Sal's recommendation is spot-on. Forget about the diamond and CBN rods, as well as strops. Just get the standard Sharpmaker and a loupe. T...

Reveal 15: Shivering with Anticipation
If we can make predictions from past Reveals, it might be another week or so until we see v15. I'm trying not to care. It can take months until the revealed knives hit the streets, so what's the point of getting excited? I'd really like a serrated Manix LW, but recently a lot of serrated knives hav...

what do y'all think will be next?
Slap some serrations on the Manix and call it a Sprint.

Re: EDC recommendation: Native 5 LW – S30V or SPY27?
S30V and SPY27 aren't dramatically different in performance. However, one knife is black, and the other blue. What color do you think is cooler? That's the one you should go with.

Re: SE performance is more than simply teeth vs no teeth.
Anyone have any feedback on the Police 4 LW K390? Trying to decide between the plain and serrated edge. Shane, I just replied in the other thread. I'll not go into he whole thing again, other than to reiterate "A serrated edge adds more 'cut' to your blade." It's like putting it on steroi...

Re: What knife is best for…
How to you like the Police 4 LW K390 SE? I am trying to decide between the plain and serrated. Hey, Shane. I have both. Over the past few months, I've been intentionally trying to figure out whether PE or SE is best. The plain edge is far better for culinary tasks. It's also better for doing more p...

Re: I don't give a #@$! about stainless
You kids are cracking me up. Stainless helps in applying makeup? Dancing around in women's clothing? I guess the bottom line is that playing with knives is fun, and we can laugh and make jokes while doing so.

Re: Lazy Man breaks down and flattens stones: What about the Sharpmaker?
I'm saying that those of us who are prone to toss out half-baked ideas with no evidence, need to stick together. Of course a dedicated sub forum. That goes without saying. And a secret handshake. And coffee mugs. And maybe a pole dancer. Right on, brother. That's the most well-considered idea I've ...

Re: Community Sharpening Journal
Thanks for the kind words! Unfortunately I still see the flaws in my own edges. Some days I do better than others. They do all get sharp and cut though, and that's plenty good enough for me. It's a poor craftsman who doesn't see the flaws in his own work. It's what drives us to continue, to improve...

Re: I don't give a #@$! about stainless
Word. Is there anything in my name that would make anyone think I'm a fan of stainless? Anyone ever machine stainless? It's awful. Anyone ever get slivers of stainless under their skin? It's awful. Why would anyone want their knife to look like pots and pans? Real men do real work in real shops wit...

Maybe. There's one way to find out.
