Re: Knife categories
Nope. I haven't bought any that I specifically intend to "hang onto" for my kids future. I figure what they'll inherit from me will be MY knives and I want them to inherit stuff that I've used and enjoyed. I want them to see the wear and age on them and know this was Dad's knife. Agreed. ...

Re: Wildland Firefighters Knife
It just struck me. The (long discontinued) ATR seems like it could lend us its blade pattern and overall shape, with its sheepsfoot, big opening hole, Cobra Hood, and glove-friendly design. https://cdn.brandfolder.io/YLOLU61B/as/oguzcw-g4rzi0-17txbz/C70GP2_Both.png?width=800 It'd be a heck of a blad...

Re: Strange Question
The Native III (or as some may say, Native 3D), also had 3D contoured handles that were quite hand filling, but they do not feel a whole lot like the Enuff.

I was carrying the PITS over the weekend. A special design, for sure. I would like to see the next run in a different colored anodize.

Re: Pac salt green frn lc200n shipping to dealers!
At first I didn't like it, but the more I think about it, the more I like the TOXIC GREEN LC200N PacSalt.
I might have to get one after all.

Re: Wildland Firefighters Knife
What do you think about combo edge, to get the field sharpening of PE and the cutting power of SE? In a larger blade, you can get plenty of both edges.

Re: Para 3 S110V Rust
The stop pin on this model is quite prone to rust, though it is stainless. I think it is galvanic corrosion.
I wouldn’t worry about it too much, but you can always use rust inhibitors like TufGlide if you wish.

Re: Para 3 Impressions
I think the Para 3 is a really interesting knife as it is essentially the blade of the old Paramilitary in a shorter handle, which was much beloved despite many quirks. Even though it is not a problem to dock a new PM2 to get the original blade length, one thing that I noticed with the large handle/...

Re: Rock Jumper comparison thread + general info
I hope my beloved SE wharnie Delica is one of those “most popular models” Sal :spyder: The SE Jazz Delica is a special knife to me as well and it's also what's stopping me from jumping on this initial run of RJ's. Doesn't the Salt 2 Wharncliffe SE count, or does it need to be FFG to be the full Sal...

Re: Wildland Firefighters Knife
While I can't speak for Sal & Eric, Spyderco is often interested in making knives for a good purpose. In the past, people have shared their designs on the forum, but Sal has advised them not to share them publicly to protect both inventor and Spyderco from copycats. I am sure someone more helpfu...

Re: FRN/Lightweights: I just can’t get into them
I have a question that might sound a little strange. How does the FRN (or any of the LW for that matter) sound when the blade is popped open. I ask as that was one of the things that turned me off on the Benchmade Griptilian, the sound it made when opened. The Griptilian is a very special case beca...

Evil D, since you own both, help me split the vote: Sheepfoot SE or Leaf SE and why? I'm slightly more interested in Sheepfoot SE since I already have the Tenacious SE.

Re: Touching up serrations on the go?
one of the advantages of serrations are the fact that they dull much slower than plain edges. unless you're cutting through sand, odds are good that your serrated edge will hold up until you're back home. Agreed, and to be fair, I went on a months long road trip with three knives and didn't manage ...

Touching up serrations on the go?
Normally when I travel I throw a stone in my bag like the Fallkniven DC4 or the little DMT Diafold. This has worked out in the past, but I'm even more than ever interested in taking serrations with me over plain edge. What do you guys use to touch up serrations on the go? Think pocket-sized, rather ...

Re: Vivi's M4 Manix XL DLC Corrosion Log
Looking forward to your test results.
I think that coated blades get a bad rap. Yes, the coating can wear off, but the way Spyderco does it, it's ridiculously tough, and it still looks pretty awesome when it does.
I'm definitely team DLC, although I don't always like springing the extra $10-15.
