It's made in Italy, European and Japanese spydies almost always cost more than US/Taiwanese counterparts, so my money is on that being why.

Looking forward to this one. There are lots of stainless steels with an eye on high edge retention but this one sounds pretty extreme - to put it differently, I expect it will likely have different properties than most of my knives which makes it a great choice for a mule.

That's very cool, thanks for the info FullScaler! I could be happy working in softer materials (though i would like to do more with gemstones/minerals, carving is more of a "wouldn't it be cool if" than a bucket list item.

I got the VPN block as well, but I didn't think about it and was actually on my work VPN at the time, so I reloaded without it and was good.
