Re: Taking apart knives

Generally, I dislike it when companies purposely go out of their way to make a product non-serviceable to the end user. But that's only because I'm generally my own warranty. It just makes it harder to fix, but ultimately, I still usually wind up getting the job done. I fix everything I can, whether...

Re: Maxamet PM 2

I don't think he even has a Maxamet PM2, he just likes trying to cause trouble (like every post he made last night, not just this thread).

Re: Maxamet PM 2

When this grind is applied to thin narrow tip = bent. Not sure why it makes such a big difference to whether the blade profile is off due to a lack of the stock being straight as forged or whether it was mishapen due to grinding difficulties, the result is the same. David Still wrong. Not bent. :ro...

Re: Maxamet PM 2

WTF are you talking about? Bent = Bent Get over it. David But they are NOT bent! That's what I'm trying to tell you! Please open your mind for a second, and let me explain: Ever hear of an asymmetrical grind? That is where there is a different type of grind on each side of the blade. Bus...

Re: Maxamet PM 2

No. Bent equals BOTH sides of the blade displaced equally, in the same direction, from the centerline of the blade. These blades were NOT bent! Again, go back and read the description of the problem much more carefully. ;) And yes, you're trolling. Painfully obviously so. Do you even own ...

I guess they just want this one to go away..... maybe a blot on their reputation? Come on now, let’s not get carried away. I’m sure when he’s ready, Sal will let everyone know what’s going on. Just try to be patient. ;) No, they will figure out the problem and fix it. Re: Taking apart knives

Did you notice how the quality dropped when some of the more well-known RC companies went to the RTR’s? I sure did. Poorly paid assembly labor I’m sure. That’s about when I started building my own stunt/racing quad copters. ;) Gotta admit, I’d kind of love a build-it-yourself kit ...

Re: Taking apart knives

After reading Mr Glesser's post I reckon Spyderco would probably be better off going down the IKEA track and selling knives disassembled with assembly instructions. If you can't put it all together yourself you could get your Mrs to do it or your local dealer would do it for you at a nominal...

Re: Taking apart knives

Sal, that’s terrible. It really is. :( It’s ALL about integrity, which unfortunately, is disappearing in our society. I think the impersonal, faceless transaction of ordering online empowers people to do things that they would never do in person. Like sending back a knife they’ve disassembled. :roll...

Re: What happens when you let a knife knut play with a $70k laser scanner...

It’s pretty cool how well it works!!! Notice how it even picked up the Spyderco Bug on the pocket clip? :D (Did I mention, this scanner was purchased to laser scan a spacecraft ...  ) Ideally, the targets are placed on the object, which is large enough that the targets are basically irre...

Nobody really knows for sure, as I don’t think anyone from Spyderco officially confirmed the issue. All speculation.

Re: Maxamet PM 2

I’m loving mine. The grind issue was blown WAY out of proportion IMO. It’s a very minor issue, really.

Hoping to see another run of them, as I want a second one for myself. Starting to regret gifting two of these instead of S110v’s.

Re: What happens when you let a knife knut play with a $70k laser scanner...

Interesting how it wouldn't pick up the pivot screw on the left side. Reflection? Apologies I missed your reply. Good eye! :D Actually, what happened there is that due to being a highly reflective, flat, round surface, the scanner mistakenly picked that spot up as a “location target”. Location targ...
