Hey bud its a plesure, btw where are you from? If you are lucky enough to be able to get to a place like SFO, or if you have a dealer with both models (and if you are able to purchase the Matriarch) Id suggest you ask to checkout and hold both models before you decide, the Cilivian is a wonderful bl...

To my knowledge they have 2 plants, one in Golden Colorado and 1 in Seki City Japan, a fair amount are produced at the Seki plant, but the more expensive models (I may be wrong) like the Civie, the Military and so on seem to be produced at the Golden plant. Hope this helps MaNcEr It's Time To Kick @$...

I dont own that many fixed blades and to be honest dont know which brands are quality and which are junk, the 1st blades I trusted where the Gerbers, they are extremely strong and do their job superbly, secondly the other blades would be my Spydercos which I now only buy, they just got a better shar...

Yeah tip-up is the way to go, well depending on the use of the blade, if its just a util knife and its got some weight on the handle opening it by dropping it is fine, but for those blades like Matriarch's,Civilains,Guntings which are used to defend oneself tip-up is the only way to go, one of the m...

I havent had the plesure of holding a CF Civie but if it makes it ligher Id be all for it, I do like the heavier blades but Im so used to my Matriarch that the Civie seems cumbersome. Its to bad the rest of u in the US cant get Matriarch's, they godly blades. Happy Hunting MaNcEr It's Time To Kick @...

Sooon, your not wrong, the price on the Civ is so high so that it is kept away from kids on the street and gangs who would rather buy something else, spyderco doesnt want a bad rep for the Civ since it was made only as a tactical blade. The matriarch is only available to law enforcement/military per...

Yeah good question, personally since it is a knife made to slash your attacker through his clothing, the serations to me would be a must, with the likes of a leather jacket a plain edge would be more prone to slipping off where the spyderedge would bite in. Yeah, just ordered myself a stainless Harpy, and yeah them Matriarch's are godly, own 1 G10 Civie and 1 grey Matriarch, personally I reckon they both brilliant but think the Matriarch takes the cake so to speak. Lighter, shorter blade which is easier and quicker to flick open, specially with the tip...
