Re: RIT dye experiences?

I have thought about doing a dye job , just not sure what color would work best starting with black frn scales . MG2 I've done some dye jobs, all on yellow salts. I plan on doing a grey one on the upcoming MagnaCut Native Salt, if I'm able to get it. I'd say nine. I think it will be impossible to d...

MG2
I'd say nine. I think it will be impossible to dye an original black FRN to another color.

Re: RIT dye experiences?

It would be possible to rit dye the ivory G10 scales of the upcoming Urban Damasteel sprint to a darker tone that's more in tune with the darker blade, right? Definitely. I've only dyed FRN myself, but there are plenty of videos on YouTube about dying G10. The dye does wear off, but it can be redone.

Spyderco crew, while you are at it, why not consider MagnaCut and salt version on this micro Jimbo?

Re: Silent opening and closing with UKPK

You can only use both of your hands to dampen the opening and closing noise. You can not relieve the tension of the spring in any way. I've never had a slip-joint knife. Does this mean that I can eliminate the noise completely if I use both hands? The thing is that with Chaparral, there is a sound ...

Re: Dragonfly or pocket knife etc. in Magnacut

The Dragonfly never made the jump to a premium steel (outside of sprint runs). The Dragonfly is a budget small folder. It already competes with much cheaper option (Rat-2 being an example). VG10 is perfect for it : cheap, easy to sharpen, good corrosion resistence... It's perfect for what the Drago...

Re: Dragonfly or pocket knife etc. in Magnacut

So then let's consider what type of models would benefit the most from it's properties? Salt models, apparently. And it's high toughness with moderately high potential hardness could lead to good edge stability for hard use blades and also for very thin slicers perhaps . But for models where wear r...

We went through a lot to be able to provide you with a piece of the stuff so you learn by yourself and come to your own conclusions. I' glad that we're getting much feedback on the material. sal I'm sure you did, and on my part, thank you. I really do plan on getting the new Native. In the end of t...

Re: With MagnaCut looming, it's time to update the Chaparral's steel

I would sooner like to see plain stonewashed titanium handle scales on a Chaparral than the blade steel change. I didn't previously know that the Chaparral was made to be a stage to demonstrate different scale materials until reading this thread. I only have the maple one. I know that there have be...

Re: Is it ok to let the knife be dull to sharpen?

Most here will tell you that frequent touch ups to the edge are better than a lengthy resharpening. While I agree, I have let more than one knife get dull before using the Sharpmaker. I've used my UF stones only a couple of times. I don't find them very useful. Ah yes, my favorite knife paradox. I ...

Re: Native 5 salt is Magnacut?

Since I collect Native 5s I hope european dealers will have this model. If not, happens. I'm sure European dealers will have this model sooner or later. Like many others, the N5 is a choil knife for me, and I don't even consider I have particularly large hands. I prefer the D4 by far, but the N5 is...

Re: Where are the LBK’s?

In my opinion, anything that’s about 3” or larger is not a Little Big Knife. The Delica is not a little big knife, these days it is an average sized knife. I don’t consider the Native 5 to be a little big knife either but the Lil Native is definitely a little big knife. (Not because of the name but...
