Re: Does S110V actually chip a lot or are people just not using their knives right?
Properly heat treated S110V doesn't chip any easier than S90V, of which you have people say it feels tougher but it's no different. The first runs were reported to have some problems, but even then it could have been just the factory edge at fault causing people to report on it and then the word of ...

Re: Buying my first PM2: S30V or S110V?
S110V is the superior steel in a lot of ways to S30V, especially with the HT Spyderco uses now which got rid of the microchipping issue that it had in the first runs. And it's one of my favorite steels (if you couldn't tell by my icon :D) But I'll suggest you get the S30V model if you're not a good ...

Re: Triple B/Spyderco Folder
Finally another CBBL knife would be great! Though the Trapper o its current form has a bit of a narrow front part of the handle to fit this lock type in perhaps? Yes that might be an issue, CBBL isn't exactly a "slim" mechanism, especially considering liner/comp lock options. If not CBBL,...

Re: Triple B/Spyderco Folder
I really missed that Shawn will come up with his own Spyderco design! Certainly curious now what it might look like... I'm pretty certain the bladeshape and handle will keep to his "Trapper" design, a nice sweeping blade and a rounded, comfortable handle. I'm definitely curious how the kn...

I wish linen/canvas micarta would get more love, it would go especially well with the Shaman's overall design and function of a heavy-duty utility folder.

In the meantime, I guess I might see if a friend in the US can onship a copy to me, as I’m keen to read this. It's available on Amazon UK ( https://www.amazon.co.uk/Knife-Engineering-Steel-Treating-Geometry/dp/B08D4P9D95/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=knife+engineering&qid=1595661663&sr=8...

Re: Help Me spend my money...Southard or Advocate
Oh man, I wouldn't wanna be you... such a hard choice! :D I would say get the Advocate, never owned or held one, but I remember people praising it as being the smoothest Spyderco flipper, while I've seen a few Southard threads with issues here and there.

Re: 13 Myths about Heat Treating Knives
I think you know about one blade forum member BluntCut (I think he is also here) and his crystal weaving foundation heat treat (or something like that). What are your thoughts on that? He claimed that he could HT some steel higher then anybody else on the planet (well, maybe not these exact words b...

Re: Its a new "Golden Age"
FYI, Eric's 11 year old son, Kobe, is starting to sit in on some of our R & D meetings. sal Haha, I remember some interview with Eric a few years back saying how he tries to give more freedom of choice to his son so that he can chose his own passions and path in life. I guess it's impossible to...

Re: Affordable fixed blade (AFK)
Hi Carrot, Cycleguy, Thanx for the input. We'll make up an "Enuff 2" proto with 3mm stock and a 4" blade. As long as the handle doesn't change, there is little tooling costs for the handle. Tooling up for an FRN sheath would be expensive, but we'll make Kydex (Boltaron) sheaths for t...

Re: GAME & KNIFE
I'm playing a lot of World of Tanks as an online game, and all kinds of single player games, mostly horror/story driven/shooters, all on PC which I keep upgraded regularly. My first and last console was a Nintendo Famicom clone, "Terminator 2", back in late 1990s. So if 28 yo is an old gam...

Re: Pacific Salt vs Pacific Salt 2 - differences and similarities
Great pics and write up, thank you! I know this is a comparison thread but I'd like to give my opinion on my Pacific Salt.....had I bought it five years ago, I feel pretty sure I wouldn't own 30 Spyderco knives today! Thanks all. I agree with you benben, every time I have a hard time picking a fold...

Re: Pacific Salt vs Pacific Salt 2 - differences and similarities
I forgot about the texturing! You are right, the bidirectional texturing feels way grippier than the old square pattern used on Pac Salt 1. I also agree with you regarding the black blade, it looks great, but I like the yellow handles since they're very visible to me and I don't want to lose my knif...

Pacific Salt vs Pacific Salt 2 - differences and similarities (with pics)
I've decided to make this post as I couldn't find any proper comparison before purchasing the Pac Salt 2 except a few videos on Youtube where the angles were all off and it was impossible to make a meaningful opinion on the differences and similarities, should I upgrade, is it an upgrade, etc., and ...

Guys remember when I went on babbling how I like the Endura 3 handle more and I would have preferred it on the second gen Pac Salt? Well I guess we'll find out soon since I just bought a Pac Salt 2. My logic is that I'll use both and sell the one I don't like :D I'm totally not buying another knife ...

Thank you, some really cool informations. I started wet shaving with straight razor, but then I switched to DE razor. Still, I love how straight razor looks. Re: Hollow Grinds
Hey emanuel, great pics that lovely illustrated how much difference could be between hollow grinds. On the other hand, I have my doubts that you could really sharpen knife to its death, like, it gets so thick that is really pain to cut with. Like, if you remove just enough steel, you have a very lo...

Re: Hollow Grinds
It depends on a hollow grind. I would like to see hollow Grind as done on Sebenza, like a true hollow grind, where the edge it a bit thicker and then gets thinner. But you can also make it more like a flat grind, where it gets thicker right away image I hope this picture make sence.... Like, I have...

Re: I do not like LC200N *rant*
I've never used a pocket knife in the kitchen - that's what kitchen knives are for. I have and do use pocket knives for food outside of the kitchen, which usually means I wipe off the blade and put it back in my pocket. I'm a fan of LC200N and am not a fan of S30V. While I would love a Kapara in LC...
